Description for Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 1955
Chevrolet production of the 150 Station Wagon Model #1529 Two-Door Handyman accounted for only 1% of total manufacturing for the year making this a very rare and desirable vehicle. The body panel styling was one-year only and provides a very distinctive look. This early example, built in Atlanta, GA in November 1954, is a project car in need of a complete restoration. The exterior body is in good shape with little or no rust other than some superficial areas where paint is missing and the elements left their mark. The front grill, marker lights, headlights and headlight bezels are in place as well as the hard-to-find stylish hood ornament. The driver's side front fender is missing its Chevrolet script emblem and the driver's side rear side glass area is missing a piece of vertical metal trim. There are no bumpers with the wagon. All of glass is in place and looks to be the original units. The driver's side rear side glass does have a vertical crack in it. The rear tailgate has the handle in place as well as the emblem in the center area below the window. Rust is evident and several sides of the lower tailgate and upper hinged rear window area. The floor boards look to be quite solid with no visible rust showing as well as the door jamb and sill areas. The engine compartment looks clean with no signs or rust or damage. The firewall is straight save for a hole cut in the center area. The interior has both the front and rear seats in place. The upholstery is all there, however quite old and dirty. This Handyman does not have any running gear - no engine or transmission nor is there a transmission cross member present. There are no spare parts that go with the vehicle nor are there any keys. This classic 1955 150 Station Wagon has a solid foundation and would make a great candidate for restoration.
