Description for Chevrolet 1/2 Ton Pickups 1936

Old pickup trucks with modern drive trains have long been desired for serious collectors and classic car enthusiasts. Even at glitzy auctions like Barrett-Jackson you'll find your fair share of updated and "massaged" pick-ups selling to enthusiastic bidders... but you wont be able to touch one in this condition for any less than we have ours advertised for. This V8-powered pre-war truck is light and nimble - really the funnest little hauler imaginable! Our 1936 Chevrolet Pickup started out as a dry old farm truck from California's. There was low original production on commercial 1/2-ton "cab & box" trucks for the model year and there are not too many clean rust free survivors left to begin a new project with. This particular example didn't need much body work or rust repair as it has spent its life out west. This truck was taken down to bare metal, primed and carefully prepped before being painted with a glossy coat of Fire Engine Red. The paint has a few little imperfections such as small touched up rock chips but still looks exceedingly nice. There are no rust bubbles dings scratches or dents. As the truck was used as a shop hauler for the owner of a Central Valley California chain of lube stations the company logo was painted on the doors. We like it but it could easily be removed and buffed out. Center Line billet wheels with Cooper Cobra radial rubber of the sizes 215/60-15 and 255/60-15. You have to take note of the perfect rake and stance of this little gem. Engine compartment looks very clean. A 1968-vintage Chevy 327 cubic inch V8 motor with TH350 auto transmission is now producing about twice the horsepower of the original stovebolt six and was carefully installed. The engine starts instantly, has a whisper quiet idle, runs smooth and pulls strong. Apart from the polished M/T alloy valve covers the polished vintage intake manifold and the EDELBROCK 4-barrel carb with chrome air cleaner it appears basically stock. Heads are the desirable camel hump units. the truck also received a dual master cylinder power brake safety upgrade. A power steering system was installed and the stock front end configuration was retained. No ugly coil overs on this baby! This truck drives straight down the road! Custom radiatior features electric fan so there are absolutely no overheating worries. The Interior is very cozy. Former owner had a large collection of Show Rods and he seems to have had a professional upholsterer at his disposal. The Dash features a full set of black-on-white Dolphin gauges. Leather-clad Grant steering wheel is mounted on a tilt Chevy column. All lights and switches work and the heater does too! Late model chairs have been expertly clad in bone-colored leatherette. Excellent burlap fabric headliner with custom overhead storage. There's even a Clarion CD Player/AM/FM stereo system installed if you want to go on a trip. The body is straight and the paint has a deep mirror shine. The bed is beautiful and finished with Hand-picked birch wood slats covered in many coats of clear varnish that has been polished to a high luster. This California pickup has never had any rust issues so the undercarriage and frame rails are straight and solid. The dual exhaust has a mellow rumble and moderate deep throaty sound under hard acceleration. The power is put to the wheels through a 10 bolt Chevy rear end. Tires and battery are near new plus brakes have been gone through. This is how you want to buy your next classic car! For those used to driving stock pre-WWII trucks chauffeuring this upgraded Chevy is a revelation. Power steering and brakes make such a difference! This pickup handles as good as it looks and there's plenty of power to boot. Thanks to good sound insulation and careful assembly the '36 is not another rattle trap. It's a comfortable quiet ride. Freeway speed no problem. check out the beautiful instruments. The indicated mileage on the odometer 358 miles since it was restored. It's fun to drive and it doesn't display any bad manners so I would be confident if you chose to use it as a daily driver or on a cross country trip! Around town everyone we encountered waved and smiled at the classy looking truck. It's a great conversation starter! Here's your chance to acquire a well-built nicely restored and upgraded 81 year-old pickup. It would be very hard to build one like it for even half of what we are asking.... If you are in the market for a fun ride, This one's ready to be enjoyed! Fly in and drive home or we can assist with shipping anywhere in the world.Have Questions? Call Chris at330-990-6970
