Description for Chevrolet Chevy II 1966

When Chevrolet greenlit and then fast-tracked the Chevy II Nova, they would have no idea just how big an impression it would go on to make among car buyers, let alone performance enthusiasts. After all, their original intent was to release a model to take on Ford's Falcon, and to do so as quickly as possible. It was certainly "mission accomplished" on all fronts, as it hit the market a scant 18 months after receiving initial approval and would go on to be readily embraced as a sort of O.G. muscle car. This 1966 Chevy II Nova SS represents a very potent, yet refined rendering of Chevy's original vision.
In one of those rare instances where the ultimately-released commercial model closely mirrored the concept car on which it was based, the second generation of Chevy II Novas, to which this car belongs, has a sharper and more aggressive overall appearance than its predecessors, as well as a sloping, almost fastback-like roofline in back to replace the previous more vertical look. These were all styling cues taken from the Super Nova concept car that wowed onlookers on the car show circuit just a couple of years earlier. This Nova, with factory correct black paint replacing its original shade, is a great representation of that vision. It's well aligned - as you can see by the way that prominent body contour along its sides remains nice and level during the transition from fender to door to quarter panel - and is sporting nice clear glass and clean badging all around. And even though a good polish and wax would certainly take things up a notch, you'll find no serious mishaps anywhere. It definitely retains its original sinister look!
The black vinyl interior is in really nice shape, with its original configuration still left intact. The pair of extra-wide bucket seats up front and broad, level bench seat in back are nicely padded and comfortable, while showing minimal wear, and a pair of fresh-looking door panels still sit nice and flush against their shells. The dash area that lies just in front of a very cool SS steering wheel has been refurbished to a vital look, featuring an instrument cluster carrying easily readable gauges, a clean and level dash pad across the top and a retro-look AM/FM stereo bearing the signature Chevy bowtie in its center. A trio of additional aftermarket gauges loom over the central console with SS badging to better monitor your motoring functions. The battery has been relocated to the back and sits securely fastened, but there's plenty of room for luggage left over in the spacious trunk area.
A revered Chevy 327 V8 sits under the hood. Topped with a 4-barrel carb and carrying an L79 cam and new lifters, it churns out 350 horsepower - a quantum leap up, performance-wise, from the original 6 cylinder that it replaced, and certainly more in keeping with the performance-centric image Novas have garnered over the years. It's paired with a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission to make up a powerful, yet dependable drivetrain. Power disc brakes sit at all four corners and accompany a still-precise power steering system to make this Nova an easy driver in everyday conditions, and a nicely-sized aluminum radiator sits up front to keep temperatures down while doing so. This jet-black cruiser with an ominous look sits on a set of 15" Ridler wheels cloaked with Falken radials.
