Someone forgot to remind this 1992 Chevrolet Silverado that it's a pickup truck. Somewhere along the way, it received a heart transplant that includes a 383 cubic inch V8, a 5-speed manual gearbox, and an athletic suspension that makes it more muscle car than utilitarian hauler. Workmanship is quite good, with a fantastic shine to the finish and great attention to detail that includes LED taillights, a hard shell tonneau cover, and a deeper chin spoiler, all of which add to the truck's performance look. The grille was painted to match the body and fitted with HID and LED lighting and the rear bumper is a heavy-duty piece that includes a trailer hitch, just in case you want to use your truck as a truck. The bed is protected with a heavy-duty mat, so it doesn't mind doing a little work and the tonneau makes it weatherproof. With just a bit of rake, this slick pickup will make you forget about your chores and instead encourages you to head out and have some fun. The interior is very much standard Chevy pickup, but it's not like that's a bad thing. With handsome burgundy fabric on a pair of factory buckets, it is comfortable and attractive for long hauls and given its condition, it has always been well-maintained. Original carpets and door panels reinforce that fact and it's loaded with options: A/C, power windows and locks, a tilt steering column, and a decent AM/FM/CD stereo system that still sounds good. A full set of Dakota Digital gauges replace the original dials and when you turn the key and see the dash light up, it's pretty darned cool. Tinted windows give it a sinister look, and it's probably safe to call the enclosed bed a giant trunk. And yes, that long shifter manages a 5-speed manual transmission, making this truck feel downright racy. The original engine was yanked in favor of a freshly built 383 cubic inch stroker motor. Based on a new 4-bolt main block and using Vortec Iron Quest heads, Eagle crank and rods, Keith Black flat top pistons, and a performance cam, you'd think most guys would be satisfied. Instead, the fellow who built this truck added a big Holley 4-barrel carburetor and MSD ignition system for instantaneous throttle response. The engine bay, even with the big air cleaner, looks fairly stock, which is always the hallmark of careful workmanship: preserving the OEM look and feel without going crazy with the shiny stuff. Dual electric fans on the giant radiator keep it cool even under load. The 5-speed manual transmission is a great complement to the torquey engine, keeping it in the sweet spot with the help of 3.73 gears on an Eaton limited slip, so it's always ready to go. The suspension has been lowered 2.5 inches all around to give it some attitude and the exhaust system is a great-sounding Flowmaster setup fed by Hedman long-tube headers. Pretty polished aluminum wheels add a performance look and carry fat BFGoodrich radials that fill the truck's big wheel arches perfectly.
