Description for Chevrolet Corvette 1959
Here is a very nic, largely original and stock 1959 Corvette. The car has its original drivetrain with the correct born with engine, a 283 230HP car with three speed manual transmission. Most all components are stock and original to the car with exception of the heads. The car had an amateur restoration around 1980 at which time the engine was rebuilt and heads swapped. Long term owner since that time hadadded only approximately 10,000 miles (in 37 years). Current mileage at 67,000 believed to be original. Paint is roughly 38 years old but shows well. There are Chips, nicks and scratches but from five feet it looksgood and has a very high gloss. Recent work and repairs include a Brand new Top, Carpe, door panels and floor mats, as well as new Shifter console plate and boot. The shifter is not original and has a great positive feel with no slop. Seat covers are in good condition but show minimal wear and age. Dash and console/gauges is/are very nice and clean. The tachometer is currently Inop. and needs to be rebuilt (The entire Tach. Drive system and cable are new, the Tach. is frozen.) The ORIGINAL Wonderbar Radio was also saved when replaced and is included, but I have no idea if it is functional. The ENTIRE brake system was rebuilt including Master cylinder, all wheel cylinders, hoses, fluid and linings. The Generator was rebuilt, and the engine bay tidied up a bit. The air cleaner is also Original and has some dents on the lid. The trunk has a brand new Mat and rear partition panel and shows excellent. The Underside of the car is clean with no major rust or scale. The center cross section ("X" shapedwhere the exhaust normally goes through) that is normally a "C" shaped open frame section was boxed or completely enclosed when the car was restored in 1979/1980 apparently to prevent future rust and to strengthen or stiffen the frame (From previous owner, due to the car living its entire life in Michigan since new). Car has recent new tires and battery. The exterior chrome is its weakest area and would need to have some attention eventually. The right front bumper has two small dings, the rest are very solid and straight. The body appears to be in good shape but there has been a repair (again in 1979-1980) on the front nose and there is a hairline crack in the paint on the left front fender. The car runs and drives nicely and steers, shifts and brakes well. It has a nice rumble. Also included are some ORIGINAL delivery documents including the Owners manual and Warranty paperwork with the Original owners name and address, as well as the Wonderbar radio instructions. If you are after a true "Driver Quality car" that is mostly original and has some upside potential on investment, this is your car. This car will turn every head as you cruise through town.I have over 60 Hi-Res photos available. Inspection PRIOR to your bid is welcomed and recommended. Buyer to be responsible for Pickup and any shipping costs. Car is located 1 hour West of Milwaukee, 45 minutes South of Madison and two hours North of Chicago O'Hare. Immediate (48 hour) $1000 non-refundable deposit is required and balance due within ten days of auction end. Thanks for looking !
