Corvette connoisseurs should rejoice over this fantastic find! MotoeXotica Classic Cars is very pleased to offer this stunning Tuxedo Black Big Brake 1961 Chevrolet Corvette Fuelie. As with all 1954-1981 Corvettes, this model was made right here at GM's St. Louis, Missouri factory. Nineteen sixty-one was the next-to-last year for the first-generation C1 Corvette model. A full professional nut and bolt restoration was done on this car in 2016, with more than $100,000 invested according to the included receipts and documentation. This gorgeous Corvette C1 has all the desirabilities you want offered in just one package such as a numbers matching Rochester Fuel Injected 283ci V8, numbers matching T10 4 speed manual transmission, RPO 687 heavy duty front and rear big brakes with cooling scoops/fins and finished off with Tuxedo Black exterior with striking red leather interior!

Dressed in hard to find and highly sought after Tuxedo Black, this car's paint and trim are in overall excellent condition with very minor imperfections at close inspection. The date code correct windows are clear and intact and the car's lights are in intact and haze-free.

Equipped with the highly desirable RPO 687 heavy duty front and rear big performance brakes and the front air scoops and duct work are intact. This 'Vette rides on Firestone Firehawk SS tires, size 215/70R15 with 15×5.5 wheels, at all four corners. Each tire surrounds black steel wheelies with factory wheel covers and are in very good order.

The car's bodywork is solid and straight, including the optional body-color hardtop and white soft-top. There is also a separate rack for hardtop storage when not in use. The trunk is in near-excellent condition, the engine bay is very tidy, the battery appears fresh and the bumpers fit well to the car's body. This was the first year for the restyled "duck-tail" or "boat-tail" rear end added by then-new GM head stylist Bill Mitchell, which would return on the second-generation model. It was also the first year for the four-light taillight treatment that continues on the current model.

Under the forward-hinged hood is a numbers matching 283 CID V-8 engine #109937 with correct Rochester Fuel Injection Part #7017320 Serial #2343 that produces 315 horsepower! Backing up this motor is a numbers matching T10 Borg-Warner four-speed manual transmission with a Positraction rear end (#E-20-61). Correct 315HP cylinder heads #3782461, new NOS correct 553 bell housing #3779553 and Harrison Aluminum Radiator and expansion tank.

Inside, the red leather bucket seats are in excellent condition, as is the matching carpet and red metal instrument panel with full instrumentation. The large, three-spoke steering wheel is in very good order while the red inner door panels echo the rest of the interior's theme. The shift lever, topped by a white ball, is in very good condition. This vehicle is a heater and radio delete model and the fuel gauge is inoperable.

For 1961, annual changes consisted of a thin, vertical and horizontal bar grille, exhaust pipes that exited below the rear bumper instead of through it and this was the final year wide whitewall tires were available. It was the last year for contrasting paint colors in body cove areas and the last year of factory two-tone Corvettes of any type until 1978. Engine displacement remained at 283 cubic inches but power output increased for the two fuel-injected engines to 275 and 315 horsepower. Power ratings for the dual-four barrel engines did not change but that was the last year of their availability.

Fewer than 300 miles have been added to the odometer since the 2016 restoration. Documentation includes restoration receipts and associated documents, a large binder of restoration photographs and a vehicle data sheet.

Competition to this Corvette in 1961 included Aston Martin's DB4, Jaguar's E-Type, Maserati's 3500 GT and Mercedes-Benz's 300SL.

This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 42,001 miles but not understood to be actual. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
