Description for Chevrolet Camaro 1969
Back in the mid to late '60s, former race car driver and performance expert Don Yenko forged a specialized niche for himself by ordering stock Camaros from GM, then equipping them with upper tier, big block Corvette engines to result in some seriously badass performance machines. Only a small group of Camaros received this treatment and of those ... very few remain. So this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Yenko Tribute presents a rare opportunity, as it ably captures both the abilities... and spirit of those impressive supercars. A very appealing Cortez silver color covers the exterior, replacing the original dusk blue and offering aesthetics more in keeping with the original sensibilities, as does the cowl induction hood. The sharp black stripes running the lengths of its sides was a feature not every Yenko-treated Camaro had the benefit of receiving, and they look great here. The Enduro front bumper, precisely painted to match the rest of the exterior, adds to this Camaro's uniqueness, while the Yenko Super Car badging found on the hood, front fenders and taillight panel provides a nice tribute to its counterparts of yesteryear. This is a very well-finished car - its body panel alignment is very much on point, with even gaps surrounding the doors, hood and deck lid, you'll find new glass on all sides of the cabin - even the headlight and taillight lenses have a fresh look to them. There are a lot of entirely new components inside the doors - the black comfort weave covers on the bucket seats, as well as the fresh door panels, carpeting and headliner are all fairly recent additions. A cushion-grip Camaro steering wheel sits on its tilt column, while just in front of it, the dash area has been thoroughly refurbished while retaining its factory appearance and features an instrument cluster that houses an assortment of functional gauges, as well as a supple dash pad (also recently added) across the top. The trunk area in back looks great - the plaid vinyl floor liner doesn't appear to have borne any cargo yet and you can see just how well-prepped everything inside was before painting. A Hurst shifter sits within easy reach, beckoning you to grab ahold and put this awesome muscle car through its paces. In keeping with its inspiration, a 427 cubic inch V8 sits in the very clean engine compartment, sporting a properly badged black air cleaner over its 4-barrel carb and surrounded by clean black inner fenders and firewall, as well as a collection of fresh hoses and properly routed wires - you won't find anything out of place here. The big block features aluminum Dart Pro 1 335 aluminum heads and, with its block also being composed of aluminum, its horsepower to weight ratio would be very hard to match. The engine fires right up when called upon and is running and sounding great - with its Hooker headers leading out to a 3" Flowmaster dual exhaust, the note this '69 sings out is impressively deep and resonant. The powerplant teams with a 4-speed manual transmission to provide a great "hands on" driving experience, while a sizable radiator sits up front to keep operating temps down in more demanding driving conditions. Power steering makes this potent classic an easy navigator, while power disc brakes at all four corners bring its set of 15" American Racing Torq Thrust D wheels, outfitted with BF Goodrich T/A radials, to prompt stops. The undercarriage on this classic looks very clean, with no signs of having been run aground nor of being exposed to any hostile elements. Meticulously restored and well-equipped, this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Yenko tribute captures the aftermarket wizardry of its namesake while offering a great driving experience. Call today!
