Description for Chevrolet Corvette 1980
This 1980 Corvette offers the kind of bang for the buck that is getting harder to find these days. For that very reasonable price up there you get a matching-numbers car in awesome colors with a lot of recent work so it's ready to enjoy. Investment? Nah, just an awesome 'Vette that's ready to enjoy and which will turn a lot of heads on the street. Code 47 Dark Brown is this 'Vette's original color, so it's... easy to see why it was changed to bright red when it was repainted about 20 years ago. With all the downright wacky colors GM was using during this period, this car looks like a 'Vette should, even 35 years later. It's fairly well finished with a decent gloss and everything matches pretty well, although the nose cone is slightly different, just like the factory would have done it. No stripes or other noteworthy modifications, just that classic shape finished to a factory-like standard. It's the right red, too, not too bright and not too tomato-like, so it really looks good, making this the kind of car that'll be welcome just about anywhere. It's been nicely maintained since it was painted, so the chin isn't all beat up, the rocker panels are protected by their own trim, and correct emblems were installed as needed to make it look like the factory intended. Tan leather is a fantastic choice with both the original brown and recent red paint and it's in fantastic condition. There are probably some new pieces, including the seat covers, door panels, and carpets, and the contrast with the exterior bodywork is dramatic. Nobody's going to argue that it doesn't look fantastic. There are light signs of age here and there, including a broken turn signal lever, but overall it appears that this car has always been treated as something special. Even the steering wheel looks pretty darned good for its age. Factory equipment includes a tilt column, cold A/C, and power windows, and along with a rather lengthy list of standard features, there's no such thing as a stripped Corvette. T-tops give you that open-air motoring experience with better weather protection than a convertible and the original AM/FM/8-track stereo offers some retro entertainment for cruising. The original, numbers-matching L48 350 cubic inch V8 remains under the forward-tilting hood and unlike so many of its siblings, it remains almost entirely stock. All the factory equipment including the twin-snorkel air cleaner and even the original carburetor, which means this car hasn't been raced or abused. It's pretty original and in good working order, with R134a refrigerant in the A/C system and a custom pipe in place of the original catalytic converter. The TH350 3-speed automatic transmission shifts properly and with a large stack of maintenance receipts, you can buy this one with confidence. It also includes rather tall 3.08 gears out back, making this 'Vette a fantastic highway cruiser ready for a long trip. Those cool 3-piece wheels give it an updated look and carry 255/50/16 Goodyears that are probably due for an upgrade. Affordable fun with enough performance to earn respect on the street, this Corvette represents one heck of a big bang for the buck. Call today!
