This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION!
This car came up for sale through a estate sale at a local farm one town over from where I am located. I previewed the car in the storage garage prior to the sale (car parked in heated concrete floor garage since 1965. ) The widow of the estate had told me that her husband and her bought this car from the town 5 miles away (postville iowa) from the original owner and drove it back to their farm. the original dealer sticker of the dealer who sold it is still on the trunk. She told me that the 57k miles are actual. She had a oil change done before they parked it inside in 1965, the tag and mileage recording is still on the sticker on the door post. She registered the car for the last time in 1965 and due to illness, the car was parked inside. The car was never driven since 1965.
upon viewing the car, I noticed the car retained all original paint with a rust free body. It had seat covers over the original upholsteryand solid floor pans. The frame is solid and rust free. The trunk pans are solid. The original spare tire and jack are all there. It still retains the original wheels and hub caps with the factory pin stripping on the wheels. I removed the seat cover after purchasing the car and the front seats and door panels were not torn and preserved in excellent condition (no mouse holes) The headliner is in great shape as pictured and videoed. I trailered the car to our sho, changed the fluids, put a new battery in, converted it to a 12 volt system for easier starting, and amazinglythe car fired right up. I added brake fluid to the master cylinde, pumped the brakes and the brakes held and worked (should be bled some more) I drove the car around town around 5 miles and noticed all of the gauges worked, the headlights worked and tailights worked. the speedo worked.
I began to debate painting the car but I realized that a true survivor, original paint, original interior etc are only original once. This car deserves to be preserved the way it is.
This is extremely rare to find a barn find that did not get mouse eaten with no rust and truly survived the way it did. The wire harness is still in great shape with no fraying i can find. If it where me, i would clear coat the body and dash to highlight and preserve the originality. After feeling comfortable with prepping the car, I drove it 25 miles to my farm (where we did the video) and the car never overheated and ran with no misses or knocks. It steered and handled the road the way it should. this truly is a rare survivor daily driver barn find. As pics show, i have the original keys and the new condition report from when it was sold new. In my opinion, to make the car a everyday driver I would recommend putting on new tires (ones on it are serviceable but old) I would replaced the rubber seals in the doors and trunk as they are old, and a new muffler and tailpipe. I put my own collector plates and plate toppers, dash magnets, and vintage air conditioner/cooler on the car to enhance the vintage look for people looking at it in my showroom, they do not go with the sale.
This is a no reserve auction so only bid if you are serious about buying the car.I require a 200 dollar non refundable deposit within 24 hours of auction end. if i do not get the deposit before you come for the car or within the time frame, i will assume you are a dreamer or a scammer and not serious about buying it. I invite you to come check it out in my classic showroom at my dealership teddys auto sales waukon iowa or hire ebay to do a private inspection.I can help recommend shippers i have used before who have been very reasonable.I reserve the right to end the listing at any time if someone buys it locally/early etc .Thanks for looking!
