Description for Chevrolet Corvette 1961
Up for auction is this beautiful 1961 Corvette convertible. Part of a private collectors estate, this beauty has only 40 miles since it was fully restored. After the second owner, who had it for 30 years, had his fun with a supercharged 454 engine, he meticulously took it apart and redid everything top to bottom, frame off. It has a new 350 crate engine 328hp with a quadra-jet carb, HEI ignition, wrapped headers, freshly rebuilt TH400 transmission with new shift kit and new stall converter, and a B&M Mega Ratchet shifter to get you through the gears. All the exhaust flows smoothly out the rear but if you want to get a little rowdy take a look at the side pipes custom made to come out the fenders. Open them up and I think you can do a good job in waking up the neighbors. In the rear it has traction bars along with a posi limited slip running on 3.73 gears. To help you get along the road like you're riding on rails, it has a completely rebuilt front end with twin torsion bars and front sway bar along with power disc brakes in the front to stop on a dime. Cruise along the highway easily with power steering and cruise control. You'll have your choice of driving topless or with either the included hardtop (in it's own covering and cart for storage) or the brand new black soft top (which saw the sun for the first time for the photo shoot). Don't want to mess up your hair during the summer? Not a problem. Flick on the A/C, roll up the power windows, and enjoy a cool ride all the way home.Outside, the pictures don't do it justice. It was sanded and painted in 3 coats of Centari acrylic enamel with hardener in a bright flame red color. It was color sanded and then coated with 3 coats of polyurethane clear, buffed and polished until it shone like it was on fire. All parts were chromed or replaced as needed and all the stainless steel trim was polished. New TA radial tires, new hubcaps, new windshield and side glass along with weather stripping and interior pieces completed everything for the restoration. Even the hood used when it was supercharged in included, just in case you want to add one yourself and turn it back into a monster. This car has just over $100k invested and the reserve is well below that. I can't state it on here but suffice to say it's a steal where it's at. This is a great car built by someone who took a lot of pride in doing it right. I have more pictures and by all means feel free to ask any questions you may have about the car. If you want to get someone to look it over for you, I can make the car available for viewing with advance notice. As always this car is sold with no warranty expressed or implied and is sold as-is. A $1000 non-refundable deposit will be required within three days. Shipping and all transportation is be arranged by the buyer.Stay tuned as there will be several other cars coming from a nice collection of hot rods. Thank you for looking and good luck bidding!!
