Description for Chevrolet Chevelle 1966
A 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle convertible in a fantastic triple black is already an attractive idea. But dig deeper to see all the best upgrades â€" including the performance big block power, overdrive transmission, and an A/C interior â€" and soon you realize just how irresistible this deal really is. This car is quite striking from its first impression in the way it mixes speed with sophistication. The '66 cars blend artful touches (like the subtle Coke-bottle curves) with subtle aggression (like the intimidating overhang on the hood.) And this one really does it right. The black has that instant look of quality that comes from a large recent investment. Before they even laid down the color, they made sure it had a good canvas with straight sheetmetal and good gaps all around. It has an aggressive look that earns its SS upgrade, including the blacked-out grille, faux hood vents, ribbed lower rocker panels, and all the correct badging â€" right down to the Super Sport scripts on the rear fender. And for added aggression and shine, there are the large 17-inch American Racing Torq Thrust wheels. Beneath the crisp black roof is a nice black interior. So with the exterior, roof, and interior all deep and dark, this one completes the upgrade to the ultra-desirable triple-black! The seats are crisp, and the sea of darkness is tastefully broken up by the insignia trim. Plus, there's more great shiny trim everywhere from the long horizontal speedometer to the classic Chevelle steering wheel. And while this one has a fantastic vintage appearance â€" right down to the AM radio that's still on display â€" there are some subtle but handy upgrades. The Equus tach is cleanly mounted under the dash, and the modern R134a air conditioning means you can cruise with the top down long into the summer season. Under the hood is a very clean and mean powerhouse. The badging might say 396, but this is actually a larger 454 cubic-inch big block V8. And not only do you get more displacement, but also there are more go-fast goodies, such as Quadrajet four-barrel carburetor, Weiand intake, and Hooker headers. So while all great real-deal SS cars have a thunderous exhaust note, this enlarged and enhanced one gives an even more impressive growl. But what makes a muscle machine like this an all-around great classic are the added driving features. For example, the 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission is stout enough to handle the enhanced V8, and it's also smooth enough for overdrive cruising. And there's even a newer radiator to help keep this running cool even if you're in traffic with the A/C pumping. Add in power steering, front disc brakes, and the grip of modern Kumho tires, and this is the droptop you'll love to drive AND show off. A great presentation, A/C comfort, serious power, and it's all wrapped around a triple-black body. Oh yeah, this is the ultimate muscle machine, and it can all be yours if you act fast enough.
