Description for Chevrolet Vega 1975

Warning! Extreme street toy for sale. This is the kind of car that urban legends are made of. Not appropriate for the faint of heart or anyone afraid of playing with fire. While this car is street legal (laws differ by state), please understand that this is a race car, set up for the strip. A sense of diplomacy and a thorough understanding of your local definition of "street legal" might come in handy if you get into a discussion about that topic with... anyone who might ask. Appropriately painted in Race Red, there is absolutely no doubt what this car is all about as soon as you see it. For one thing, a rear quarter window full of race stickers screams it out in red, white, blue, and yellow. Start looking a little closer and you will notice the Cowl induction hood and the four pins that hold it in place. Below the headlights there is a silver painted front bumper, but it is fiberglass and not intended to bump up against anything except a starting line. Big 'ol exhaust tips exit out just in front of the rear wheels, and you might notice that those rear wheels look a tad oversized for an economy car. The view at the back of the car contains some clues as to its true purpose in life too with a fuel gauge, the main electrical shut-off, and external battery posts mounted into the rear panel between the taillights. The same "form follow function" theme continues inside the car. Open the door and you will find a lightweight door panel with a simple strap to hold it open. The seat is finely upholstered with Red and Black in an attractive combination of the best energy absorbing and fire-retardant material available with provisions for the RCI 5-point harness built in. There is a quick release steering wheel with a programable tachometer and a shift light directly in front of it. There are only two gauges in the dash, water temp and oil pressure, to keep tabs on the health of the beast within. Notably missing is a speedometer. Because there are only two speeds in this car. "As fast as possible", and "with the flow of traffic". A Hurst shifter shares space with a line lock and the fuses and switches are overhead within easy reach. Now to the beast within. Please check out the build sheet for more complete details. It is basically a destroked 400 cubic inch small block Chevy. Some precision machine work prepped the block for 12:1 KB pistons and H-beam rods. A Comp Cam was built to spec for this motor and installed with Manley stainless valves and push rods acting through 1.5 roller rockers and CompCam springs. (A spec sheet details out the lift, duration, overlap and other specifics of the valve train that the engine builders out there will appreciate). 492 GM heads were installed and a Holley Strip Dominator intake dropped in between them. An Edelbrock carb mixes the fuel and an MSD ignition provides the spark. Hooker headers get the spent gases out and it all happens again. Real fast! Power is sent back through a Turbo 350 trans with a PTC 4000 converter to 3.89 gears in a full spool diff. Moser axles get the power out to 235/50R15 tires with traction bars to help get the power to the ground effectively. There is more info too. More than can be covered here. So, if you are looking for an extreme toy, come on down and check this one out. It's what urban legends are made of.
