Description for Chevrolet C/K Pickup 1500 1989
I purchased this 1989 Chevrolet Silverado short-bed from the original owner's brother with the original 350 motor. When I purchased the truck it had 142,000 miles on it. It sat in a barn from 2004 until I purchased it last year. I put a brand new 383 stroker with an internally balanced and forged rotating assembly and a rebuilt 350 turbo transmission. The block is a 1969 block with driver's side dipstick, new world products heads ( https://www.summitracing.com/parts/WRL-012150-2 ), hydraulic roller cam, roller rockers, Edelbrock Air Gap aluminum intake, new Holley carburetor with electric choke and manual secondaries ( https://www.summitracing.com/parts/HLY-0-76750RD ), new fuel pump, new fuel regulator, new Cooper Cobra tires, new American Racing wheels, new brakes, new master cylinder, new headlights, new transmission cooler, new a/c compressor, condenser and dryer, new fuel sending unit, new Alpine stereo/CD player with Bluetooth, new steel braided fuel lines, all new hoses, belts, stainless steel Flowmaster exhaust, new Hooker long-tube headers, etc. The bench seat is original to the truck and does not have any rips or tears. However, there is one small cigarette burn from the original owner in the seat. The dash is not cracked or damaged in anyway. That said, I do not smoke and the truck has absolutely no odor of smoke whatsoever. I have all of the original documentation with the truck, including original window sticker, manual, receipts, original registrations, etc. There are no dents or dings in the body of the truck, just two extremely small dents in the front bumper, which are visible in the photos. There is a sport mirror on the driver's side that I found at a salvage yard and the passenger side still has the original mirror (so the mirrors do not match). The speedometer works, however, it does not read the correct speed due to a gear that needs to be changed in the transmission to account for the new transmission. Also, the odometer does not work. The speedometer cluster unit is out of a 1994 Chevrolet Silverado and includes a tachometer that works. The air conditioning components are all there and brand new. However, one of the fittings that attaches the condenser to the drier needs to be replaced, so that it fits better without leaking. I used the original line and attempted to bend it to fit, but it did work. Therefore, the A/C is not currently working. However, the heater works great. There is absolutely no rust anywhere on this truck, including the bed, floorboards, cab corners or rocker panels. There are no cracks or chips in the glass. After I replaced the fuel pump in the gas tank (new internal fuel pump) the tail lights quit working. The brake lights still work, but the tail lights do not. I have not tracked down the reason yet. Doors shut nicely and lock. However, power locks do not work. Driver's side window rolls down with no problem. However, the passenger side does not. My intention was to replace the door lock actuators in both doors and the window motor in the passenger door, but I had not gotten around to it yet. The tailgate works great and latches with no problem. The bed is pretty scratched up inside but has no major dents and no rust. This really is a solid older model Chevy. You will not be disappointed. It is exactly as described and shown in the photos.
The truck is very fun to drive and has a lot of torque. The stall converter is a 3000 from Speedway Motors. There is more than $8,000 invested in the motor alone. This is a mechanically new truck with less than 5,000 miles on it. It is currently stored at my home in Oklahoma. I lost my job several months ago and, while I have a new job, I make significantly less and have lost interest in the truck. It needs paint, but other than that and a few minor issues noted above, it is ready to go, reliable and could be a daily driver immediately. This would be a great project truck for someone to finish exactly like they would like to have it. I have described this truck as accurately as possible but I am happy to answer any questions.
