Description for Chevrolet Blazer 1975
Live out your post-apocalyptic Mad Max wasteland dreams and ride to Valhalla in this 1975 Chevy K5 Blazer 4x4 (no smog and full convertible top).Go anywhere do anything. This thing may look scary but it's been completely overbuilt with structural components and almost every single part has been replaced with new and the rust has had a "patina treatment", neutralized and satin finish clear-coated. It cruises great on the freeway and gets an honest 14-16mpg. Has around 2000 miles and 2.5 years on the build to this point.
I've driven it several times to Joshua Tree, several trips to Gorman, and up into the mountains a lot. I was building it as a reliable, yet stylish, overlander andI wish I could finish up all the fine details but I'm moving early next year and I'll have to leave it behind. Everything is solid and functional and it's ready for anything.
Read the full listing for every detail and feel free to ask anything that comes to mind.
Clean title, current California registration until June, comes with a shovel.
ENGINE:
It has a strong 5.3 LM7 LS motor taken from a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 with 140K miles on it with a standalone ECU.
Billet aluminum plates connect it to Off-Road Design Competition Urethane Motor Mounts. The current engine crossmember is ~ok~ it's strong and there's no clearance issues or anything but I was planning on swapping it out with an ORD High clearance model.
It is mated to an SM465 manual transmission with an NP205 transfer case with ORD Twin Stick shifters, Hi-Angle Driveline driveshafts with new u-joints, 12-bolt rear axle with upgraded 1350 yoke, and Dana 44 front axle.
The motor is stock aside from long tube stainless headers and an aluminum intake.
It's had a top-end rebuild (as preventative maintenance) with new head gaskets, valve stem seals, and everything else.
Every electrical sensor is new as of the build 2000 miles ago (O2 sensors, knock sensors, Camshaft Position Sensor, temperature sensor, oil pressure, MAF)
New water pump, thermostat, and belts.
New plugs, wires, and coils.
New two core aluminum radiator with dual 19 fans with factory temp settings.
New battery as of November.
Dual 2.5" stainless exhaust to the mufflers then aluminized steel tailpipes.
New 31 gallon fuel tank, sending unit, MSD in-line pump, billet fuel filter, -8 AN fittings and hoses.
New flywheel, pilot bearing, and clutch.
Hydraulic clutch system with a pull-type slave on a customfabricated 1/4in steel bracket.
SUSPENSION:
2" Tuff Country EZ Ride suspension (springs, shocks, and hardware) which is surprisingly smooth with really good articulation.
35" Mud Terrain Tires on 17" rock crusher wheels, with about 2000 miles with matching spare (spare has a plug in the sidewall but I was using it as a main tire for several months and it doesn't leak or anything so it's good enough for an emergency escape plan).
All new master cylinder, brakes, slave cylinders, and wheel bearings, and brake hoses.
New steering box with Smittybilt Frame Kit reinforcements, tie rods, and linkages.
Stainless U-Joint steering column (no rag joints).
New ball joints on the passenger side ( I have ball joints for driver's side as well as new front axle u-joints, the current ones are fine but was going to replace them when I did the gear swap)
New Mile Marker hub lockers.
Gears are currently 3.08s (if I recall correctly) and are a bit high for the tires but it still has plenty of power and cruises at 65mph at about 2000rpm. I do have a set of 4.88 gears front and rear with install kits for those as well as a Spartan rear locker that I was planning to have installed that I will throw in if wanted.
BODY/INTERIOR:
9" boat sides. The original floor, rocker panels, and doors were cut out 9 inches up the sides and replaced with .120 wall 2x6 and 2x2 steel to make for a stiffer body (especially being a full convertible) and increased ground clearance.
The full interior was sprayed with black Raptor Liner.
The original tailgate was replaced with a pickup tailgate.
Outer quarter panels removed.
The top is in good condition with no cracks or real damage and is easily removable and has roll-up vinyl and velcro windows. Also comes with a fabric top that snaps along the windshield and ties back to the roll cage.
It has a full .120x1.75 tube cage in it that has been fully welded except 4 points at the front of the cage where the windshield needed to be removed to finish those lines (never got to removing the windshield).
Front tube bumper with winch mount, 48" hi-lift jack, and LED bar light.
LED Headlights, taillights, and turn signals.
Rear tube bumper with hitch and trailer harness.
Aluminum dashboard with the gauges from the donor GMC. All gauges work aside from the gas gauge and voltage but there are extra gauges below the dash to solve that. The speedometer works but it is not calibrated because I was going to do a gear swap. I have it disconnected currently because the miscalibration was making it hit the speed limiter at 65.
It has a touch screen stereo with back-up camera and an 800w 4 channel amp with cage-mounted marine speaker pods.
No A/C but it does have a Mojave heater that works great.
Windshield wiper only has one speed due to it being an intermittent column switch without the control module.
Has some bucket seats in it which are getting worn cosmetically but still comfortable.
Pig suede door panels, center console, and dash.
LED interior lights in front and in back.
Rear currently has storage drawers that run the full length of the bed but easily removed with 4 bolts at the corners.
Driver's side door is pretty thrashed (metal is cracked at the top by the mirror which makes it flex) but all the doors have new seals on them and the windows work.
