Description for Chevrolet Corvette 1954
Thanks for checking out my 1954 Corvette!!! This is a great opportunity to get your hands on one of the most collectable Corvettes ever made and at a deep discount to that of what you will find on Ebay/internet today. If you don't believe me, look at the other 1954 auctions on this site. They don't even come close for the condition of this car.
1954 Corvette Facts
There were 3640 Corvettes made in 1954. All were Convertibles and all had Powerglide Transmissions. Wheelbase: 102", Track: 57" Front / 58.8" Rear, Height: 51.5" Over Windshield. Length: 167.3", Width: 69.8", Curb Weight: 2,886 lbs, Tire Size: 6.70x15"
This was the 2,142nd Corvette to come off the Assembly line in St Louis with a polo white exterior, red interior and beige top. There were 3230 of this color combination produced that year. They also added Pennant Blue, Sportsman Red and Black as additional colors in 1954 but in very limited numbers.
Some Facts about # 2142
I was fortunate to pick up this car from a family friend who has owned it since the early 80's. It had been very well maintained during the time of ownership. It's been registered in Alaska but has been in a climate controlled garage in Arizona. They only put 500 miles on the car in the last 35 years. I am not by any means a historic 1954 Corvette Aficionado but what I have been told about the car is that the mechanics including the engine/transmission/undercarriage have been restored. The beige vinyl top has also been redone. All the mechanical parts of the car have been verified to be original and match the codes that are published for the 1954 Corvette using a NCRS (National Corvette Restoration Society) book. The car currently shows a little over 90k miles on the odometer. I estimate the car to be a 8.5/9 out of 10. Unfortunately, I have no judging sheet other than a sticker on the front windshield that shows it was judged at some point during its life by the NCRS. Most likely after the restoration.
The exterior and interior of the car appears to be original. There are a few paint chips on the hood along with a few chips by the convertible latch point behind the driver's seat. The steering wheel is also missing a couple of spots of paint. The seats are in overall excellent condition with only 2 visible little holes that I can see.
The car had been sitting a couple of years so I emptied the gas tank and had to clean out the 3 carb system. (you'll notice in the engine bay pics the bullet carb covers removed)
I am starting the bidding on this car well below its value with no reserve. I would like to give someone the chance to own the car at a very reasonable price for what the car currently is condition wise or possibly spend the extra money to make the car a concourse car. The choice is yours depending on what you want to do with it. Bid high and bid often. You won't find a deal like this any time soon! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I will try and answer them to the best of my ability. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the car is also for sale locally.
I do have the Title in hand and ready to sign over to the new owner!
