The car basically needs nothing and everything on the car works as it should. It looks greats. runs great. and is an awesome driver that is ready to be enjoyed. This Corvette has received an NCRS second flight award. It was just 0. 2 of one percent away from winning an NCRS Top Flight award. If the previous owner would have driven the car 20 miles to the NCRS event or installed a period battery the car would have been Top Flighted. The NCRS scoring form and judging sheets are included with the car and pictured below. This Corvette is priced to sell. always turns heads. and gets a TON of attention going down the road. The market on these chrome bumper Corvettes is red hot right now. The car is finished in the beautiful and highly desirable color combination of Bridgehampton Blue over Dark Blue Vinyl. This very rare and desirable color combination is correct and original. verified by both the trim tag and original Chevrolet Order Form pictured below. Both a soft top and body colored hardtop are included with this Corvette. The very low original mileage is verified not only by the condition of the car. but also the clear Ohio title showing the mileage as Actual. unbroken ownership history back to new. and the documentation pictured below. We received this Corvette as part of a trade deal from a gentleman in Wisconsin along with a 1976 Trans Am with 17. 20 original miles. He had purchased the car from a reputable classic car dealer in Detroit for $34. 00. As stated above. this car come with extensive documentation and ownership history back to when it was sold new at Romick Chevrolet in Louisville. OH in 1970. There are also some copies of old titles to verify the original mileage and a very thorough write up on the complete history of the car. all of the previous owners. and some mileage readings at transfer. That write up is pictured below and stops at 1994 with Richard Pittsley. however we know the history from 1994 to today and have a copy of the title from Mr. Pittsley. He sold the car to the dealer in Detroit. The dealer in Detroit sold the car to the most previous owner in Wisconsin. and that is where purchased the car. Also included with the car and pictured below is the original order copy from when the car was purchased new. some odometer statements. and some receipts for service and maintenance over the years. I would not hesitate to hop in this car and take road trip right now. This Corvette is owned free and clear with no liens by Seven Hills Motorcars. the title is NOT branded as salvage or rebuilt. Please peruse all of the photos. numbers. video. and information below to get a true sense of how nice and clean this Corvette really is. Mr. Pittsley had an appraisal done on the car in May of 2000 by Specialized Appraisals. Here are the appraiser's comments on the car. "This 1971 Corvette is a time capsule. Although having been repainted and a new white tops and engine detail this totally documented car is in excellent condition. It has been NCRS Flight Judged and would quality for a Top Flight award at this time. " As a side note. this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the Corvette. just give us a call. numbers Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the correct stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts. but all of the dates are also chronologically correct. This means that all of the parts were made and assembled in the correct order. For example. all of the dates for the individual engine components and the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could be assembled. All of the parts I checked follow this rule and are dated correctly. item number description* VIN 194671S102281 The first digit. "1. quot; indicates the Chevrolet division of GM. Colvin's Corvette by the Numbers and Mike Antonick's Corvette Black Book. condition Exterior The Bridgehampton Blue exterior is in excellent driver condition. As one can see in the photos the finish has dazzling gloss and deep shine. The chrome bumpers and other bight work on the car show very well. The wheels and center caps are in excellent condition with a nice finish. The original style Firestone Wide Oval tires look amazing on the car. They are the period correct bias ply construction. which is noticeable on the road when compared to radials. The soft-top is in good shape and the rear window is not yellowed or foggy. The top itself operates quite well. latches easily. and also fits well. Often Corvettes will have particularly chipped up front ends. this car does not. There are a couple small touch ups and very faint imperfections around the car too small to show up in photos. but nothing that is really noticeable from about five feet away. There is one small blemish near the right side door handle with a specific photo of the area below. As one can see in the many photos of the underside of the car. this Corvette is totally solid with absolutely no rust issues. There is no rust around the "key hole" area of the frame in front of the rear tires and no evidence of corrosion around the windshield or "birdcage. quot; the most common areas for rust on C3 Corvettes. Window Date Codes Please note that the "Astro Ventilation" door glass and even the windshield are date coded and original as each piece predates the car's body build date of September 14. 1970 (B14). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage. The Stingray looks just as good in person as it does in the photos. Interior The dark blue interior of the Corvette looks absolutely superb. The seats look virtually brand new with no split seems. rips. or signs of wear. Please note that these are not some cheap aftermarket replacement covers. The correct vinyl seats. which this car has. are actually much more expensive then the "leather like" alternatives sold by many Corvette parts suppliers. So the previous owner of this car spent the extra money to purchase the correct. higher quality restoration parts. The carpet is also in great condition with no tears. holes. or major stains. This included the rear carpet which is often neglected. The dash and console are in nice condition with no fading or sun damage. The radio is correct. original. and actually gets great reception. The door panels are in good condition and fit to the door well. There is some light cracking on the arm pad on the driver's side. which is very common on this era Corvette. The black headliner in the hardtop is not warped or sagging. The jack and jack handle are present and stowed correctly behind the passenger seat. which is pictured below showing the original decals on the compartment lid. This car has not been smoked in and there is no aroma of cigarettes whatsoever. Corvette interiors are not known to wear well and the excellent condition of this interior is a testament to the meticulous care this car has received throughout it's life. Even very detailed items that are almost always broken or shabby are not on this car; details such as the finger pulls for the rear storage compartment and the fit of the center gauge cluster with the shifter console and down to the parking brake console. Please also note that even the light works correctly in the center storage compartment as one can see in the photos and video. The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos. Mechanical This Corvette seems to be in very good mechanical condition. The car starts right away every time. runs well. and idles well. The car drives terrifically; it is tight on the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph. braking to stoplight. and going through some curves. Please note that there are no strange noises or vibrations and the car performs quite well. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. The transmission shifts smoothly throughout the power band. This Corvette has plenty of power and is quite fast. Also. the engine compartment is beautifully clean and detailed as one can see in the photos. All of the upper and lower ignition shielding is still in place on the car. The horn works as do all the exterior lights. interior lights. all gauges (with the obvious exception of the clock). and wipers. The entire vacuum system for the headlights and wiper door works correctly with no effort. binding. or hesitation from both their respective switches on the dash and the override switches. The entire operation from both switches can be viewed in the video below. The blower for the heater works on all speeds. The dash lights work as one can see in the video. Most of the fiber optics work. This Stingray is well sorted mechanically and has been very well maintained over the years. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car. especially with top down on a beautiful day. A note on the fiber optic light monitoring system. We consistently receive many questions about the purpose of this system; exactly what it is and what it does. The sole and main idea behind the fiber optic light monitoring system is to simply confirm that all of the exterior lights. headlights. indicators. tail lights. etc. . are working and to make the driver aware of a a burned out bulb. Each lamp on the outside of the car has an actual fiber optic cable the runs to an indicator on the center console. There are nine small indicators on the console and each has its own finer optic cable. When the bulb goes on the light travels through the fiber optic cable and illuminates the corresponding indicator on the console. If someone does not remember to plug the cable end into the lamp housing. does any work to the center console. or if there is a break in a connection or anywhere along the cable. that indicator no longer works. As one can image. over time this is very common. This Corvette runs and drives as well as it looks. Overall Condition Overall. this 1971 Corvette is in spectacular condition. Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing and as one can see above this car is quite correct. There are photos below of the VIN and date stamps on both the engine block and transmission main case. In my opinion and based on our experience the "Chrome Bumper" cars from 1968-1972 are the most collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette market right now. The value of these cars has gone up exponentially in recent years. They are all solid investments for a collector. The originality. matching numbers. comprehensive documentation and history. NCRS Judging. and beautiful color combination make this car especially important and difficult to duplicate. There is no way someone could restore a 1971 Corvette to this level of quality for anywhere near our asking price. This Corvette always gets a ton of attention driving down the road. It is very apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous owners. The prices of C3 Corvettes have increased drastically over the past years. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.
