Description for Chevrolet El Camino 1985

This car is so rare that I listed it under El Camino so it will be seen. It is not an El Camino but its twin the GMC Sprint Caballero Diablo. This car is not original but is in the next best class which is Resto-Mod in that it has an upgraded suspension, drivetrain, motor and transmission. From 25 feet away, the car looks original. There are minor nicks and slight dents but nothing that stands out and the nicks have been touched up. This rod is for jumping in and enjoying without worrying about hurting it. Whatever you do to it, it can be fixed and enjoyed some more. This beast is not for a museum piece. The motor, stall, transmission and everything about the drivetrain are perfectly matched. It is not too radical as everything is medium-high pulling HP from many different sources. At Wide Open Throttle it won't shift into 3rd until 97 MPH, then it is like a rocket. The SSBC front brakes will stop this beast on a dime and they look good too. It is hard to get a motor this hopped up to generate enough vacuum to run power brakes and a/c without a racing vacuum pump but I accomplished this by going all roller gaining horsepower from many sources and running a medium cam. This is no paper tiger. A serious, insanely responsive build. Buy it and all you have to worry about is creature comforts and looks. The bare bones from the ground up work has been done. Also has a sprayed in Bed Liner!

Suspension:

Bilstein performance valve front shocks (from Summit Racing)

Monroe Heavy Duty Air shocks on rear

Moroso Trick Springs front and rear. Only allows the front end to rise to a certain level before leveling out.

383 Ci Blueprint circle track small block with 195cc hi flow muscle series heads with a five-angle valve job for shear(atomization)

62 cc combustion chamber/ 77cc exhaust

441 horse/471 torque with set up as is. Want more add a 750 carb or change manifold to a double manifold and run 2- 500 cfm carbs. Will make up to 575 hp with a double carb set up.

Features Hi Energy Comp Cams roller rockers, roller lifters, pushrods, 284 hydraulic roller cam, and a double roller timing chain.

Topped off with an Edelbrock Ram Air Enduashine Manifold, Tall Valve covers, Edelbrock Hi Performance Carb, Aluminum Heads by Blueprint.

The block is a one-piece rear main seal machined to accept a 3.75- inch crank to stroke the 350 block to 383 ci. The block is fortified with a cast steel (Process 9000 alloy) crank and rods, hypertonic flat top pistons with Cleveite skirts. Needs new interior, dash, gauges, wipers, horn and cruise control. Has working A/C, paint is in Good condition. No rust just patina. Looks good even when dusty. Is insanely responsive. Does 10's as is and will do 9's with small changes. The car was de-evolved from race to street. It drives incredibly well. Get's 19 miles per gallon on the highway in mild weather. The GMC version is the rarest of the El Camino's. It has been mostly garaged. It has total command of the road and handles very well.

It has approximately 80,000 miles on this engine. Call if you have questions 318-348-6308, Dave. The car had 49,000 original miles when I bought it and I put in a new speedometer when I upgraded the engine. The speedometer just recently quit working and I had been thinking about getting Digital Dash by Dakota Ind.
