You are looing at a Period Restored 1955 Chevy Bel Air Custom, with a genuine very early date coded A11-9 1969 427 Hi Performance 3963512 Coded Big Block. The early January 11, 1969 date code ofA11-9 on the block, as well as "SPEC", or Special, cast into the front of the blockconfirms its provenance as a rare and genuine1969 Hi Performance 427 Big Block. I have been informed that the block was specially cast by GM as a race motor, however, I have found no information to confirm this. If you look at my auctions, you will see that I have 100% Positive Feedback selling cars starting at $1, with NO RESERVE to let the market determine the real value. This auction will run to the end, and the car will sell to the high bidder, regardless of final price, so BID TO OWN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Under the hood, the genuine 3963512 Hi Performance 427 Big Block, with a very early A11-9 1969 Date Code, has a unique casting on the front driver's side."SPEC" is caston the front of the block in large prominent capital letters. Ihave beentold that SPEC means "Special", and this block wasspecially cast byGeneral Motors as a factory Race Engine, however, I have found no information documenting this. Experts, please weigh in on this with additional information or clarification. I have included images of the date casting numbers, the block casting numbers, as well as the SPEC casting in the block for your reference. Clearly, theowner spared no costs at the time when selecting theengine to build this car around. A Dual Plane, High Rise Edelbrock Performance RPM Intake Manifold sits up top to make incredible power up to 6500 RPM, with streetable torque for great throttle response. Long tube headers help it breathe up top. The Automatic transmission shifts smoothly, and the B&M Performance Shifter selects gears positively for crisp and assured manual shifting. The lockout prevents undesired gear selections for added security. The pedestal console places the shifter ergonomically, and adds a gear selector indicator, with both adding a sporting look to the custom interior. A new radiator keeps operating temperatures low, even in the hot Florida weather. The car can idle for extended periods, with none of the stresses of a creeping temp gauge. It is well sorted for cruising or daily driving. The car was restored on a rust free body, and it currently exhibits no signs of rust. Clean blue paint can be seen under the body through the frame, indicating that the body was off of the frame when painted and restored. The doors shut tightly against the weather-stripping, with the familiar solid sound of a classic 50s door, closing to a factory gap. The paint still shines with a great luster, although, minor checking can be seen in the images on the dash and front. The trim is solid, however, could use a polishing to restore its brilliance. The 4 wheel disks take nice and high, but a modernized booster would add assurance for those with a ginger foot. The car shows and drives as well as you would expect from any period restoration, with the tremendous low end torque of the Big Block. The two tone Quasar Blue over Titanium Silver paint job looks stunning, and the subtle454 Big Blockfender badges hint at the power hidden within. The dual side-exhaust dumps keep the mellow tone of theBig Blockon your mind while cruising, and a quick blip of the throttle pins you on the crushed velour bench for endless enjoyment. This is a rare opportunity to own a period custom 1955 Chevy Bel Air Hot Rod, with an authentic "Special" casting 1969Hi Performance427Big Block. It is certainly a great talking point at cruise-ins, as I have never seen another factory big block with this Special Casting. Please look at the pictures below carefully, and ask any questions before bidding. The car is available to inspect in Edgewater, Florida. Check my 100% Positive Feedback, and bid with confidence.
Good luck, and Happy Bidding!! |
