Description for Chevrolet Corvette 1963
Isn't this a nice Corvette? This 1963 convertible has such a classy look, with its Ermine White exterior, red interior, and knock-off wheels. Whether its wearing the white hard top, black soft top, or no top at all, it really is a sharp car. It is also in wonderful condition. This is an early 327ci 4-speed car (number 1319) with its factory color combination. It is a well cared for example with more than $50,000 in receipts dating to 1984. These... cover both mechanical items (engine rebuild, brakes, bearings, u-joints, seals, shocks, etc.) and cosmetic items (wheels, bumpers, moldings, door handles, etc.). Also included is a high-quality professional repaint in 2005. This has all kept the car looking great and running reliably. The engine is believed to be the original numbers matching block (the VIN is no longer legible since the block was decked in 1984, but the assembly stamping remains legible). The 3782870 block was cast on 9-28-62, while the 3782461 heads were cast on 9-29-62. The engine was assembled on 10-10-62, and the car was assembled the same week. So all the dates are in proper alignment. Note the engine suffix code is RE which indicates the solid lifter 340hp option, though the car was converted to hydraulic lifters on 7-10-84 and now has a 5500rpm tachometer. As an early 1963 car, the 4-speed transmission is a Borg-Warner T10 that was just rebuilt. The smooth clutch and easy shifting make this car a joy to drive. The brakes and steering are manual but have been well serviced and work great. The suspension has also been rebuilt and includes a fiberglass rear spring. The red interior is such a nice complement to the exterior. The seats, door panels, carpeting, and trim are all in very good condition. All gauges function properly, as do the wipers, heater, horn, e-brake, and turn signals. The headlights work smoothly along with the door warning light. The 1963-1967 "mid-year" or C2 Corvettes represent some of the most desirable of the breed. This example helps understand why, as its classic looks and spirited performance make it a pleasure to own. And when you throw in this car's nice history and beautiful condition, it becomes very desirable indeed.
