Description for Chevrolet Caprice 1971
Up for sale is a 1971 Caprice Classic (located in Fort Campbell 42223. 60 miles west of Nashville off exit 11) 4 door hardtop no post.I found the car in a storage facility and it had been sitting for 15 years, The title is a Tennessee state title, clearand in my name.
the metal holding the rubber trim for the trunk is rusted and will need replacing( cut and weld), this being the worse area.
The floor boards (Passenger Driver, Front Back to include hump above differential) are all rust free.
The power windows and seats all work just move slow
The power steering and windshield wipers work as do all the lights signals and horn
There is no key for the doors, trunk or glovebox, ignition key replaced and in working order.
The Headliner looks show room, the seats and carpets will need reupholstering/ replacing. the door panel carpets are faded.
The original 454 was replaced with a 350 (new oil pump, timing chain, thermostat, belts, hoses, fuel pump etc).
What is wrong with the engine? The first rocker pushrod over the number 2 cylinder either has a stuck lifter or a worn cam lobe.
The 400 tranny and radiator is original to the car.
None of the glass is cracked nor is there any bondo welding applied to the car.
There is a whole the size of three nickels laying side by side on the driver side next to the rear window midline. The trunk has several small holes ranging from slide a pencil to drop a dime through. The previous owner rather than replacing the trunk gasket put a blue tarp over the trunk then they shut the lid (abandonimg this gem for 15 years)
Does it Run? yes two pumps and it will start right up, but I would avoid engine damage by driving it up onto a trailer.
I will only trade for a 1963 Impala (not Bel Air-not Biscayne, and absolutely no other years) 9 passenger station wagon!
Send email for video of engine and trunk lid trim rust issue.
Note: if it makes it back to Florida, expect it to look like the last to pics then the purchase price will be much higher... take advantage now and do not delay!!!
