An extensive custom build completed by All American Street Rods in Gainesville, Virginia, this arresting 1962 Chevrolet Corvette Resto Mod is the product of an estimated 10,000 man hours invested over a five-year period. Its radical design and stunning presentation made it a finalist for the Goodguys Vintage Air Custom Rod of the Year Award in 2016, one of the most coveted titles in the Rodding and customizing worlds. Built on a handcrafted chrome-moly chassis, its body features a custom-grafted 1957 Corvette front end, an ambitious project all by itself, yet only just the start of the extensive work that included a 2-inch channel job, custom floors, handcrafted custom grille opening and insert, flush-fitting bumpers and a unique upswept tail. The electrically powered hood opens to reveal a custom-fabricated engine cover hiding a GM LSX454 engine packed with forged aluminum pistons on 4340 steel rods and a hydraulic roller camshaft. Completed with electronic fuel injection, Ultimate stainless headers with custom 3-inch Borla stainless exhaust and a Street & Performance front runner system, it cranks 627 HP through a Chevy Performance SuperMatic 4L80E transmission to a Chris Alston Chassisworks FAB9 rear end narrowed 11 inches and fitted with a Strange Engineering nodular iron center section, 3.89 differential and 35-spline axles. Suspension is by Chassisworks chromed 4-link system with QA1 aluminum coilovers and sway bar at the rear, Strange Engineering forged aluminum struts with exclusive stainless-steel spindles matched to QA1 springs, and TCI Engineering chromed lower control arms, with steering executed through manual rack-and-pinion. Solid, reliable stopping comes via Aerospace Components ventilated power disc brakes with Wilwood calipers actuated by a Strange Engineering dual-reservoir master cylinder. Finished in custom-mixed PPG Silver and sporting a removable hardtop and a custom Saddle Brown Ultraleather interior featuring Dakota Digital gauges, Vintage Air, power windows and a Powertrain Control Solutions paddle shifter, this magnificent custom Corvette rides low on BF Goodrich G-Force T/A tires wrapping polished Billet Specialties SLG45 wheels.
