Description for Chevrolet Monte Carlo 1983

Among the short list of cars from the '80s that are sure to be future collectables, this 1983 Chevrolet Monte Carlo coupe makes a compelling argument. The most dynamic version of an all-time favorite, it has a classic performance look and style that remains quite appealing, even today. White might be the best of the Monte's colors, giving the big coupe a lot of presence and remaining timeless rather than dated like teal or burgundy. With a comprehensive... repaint completed several years ago, this vehicle maintains the stock look these Monte's are best suited in. There are a few scratches and nicks here and there, but overall it's quite impressive for a car fast approaching its 36th birthday. The sporty urethane chin spoiler and unique nose give the Monte a NASCAR-inspired, SS-style attitude that's instantly recognizable by anyone that's ever been smoked off the line by one of these years ago. There's no chrome on the body, with its body-colored bumpers and blacked-out trim, all of which remains in good condition overall. Other than the Monte Carlo crests on the taillights and the nose, there are no loud badges are obnoxious decals, giving this street brawler a somewhat sophisticated look. Perfect it is not, but this Chevy is still an attention-grabbing coupe that turns heads everywhere it goes. Inside is a mixture of new and old, stock and aftermarket, highlighted by a set of black Corbeau Racing seats. There's minimal wear, even in the high-traffic areas like the driver's seat bolster and the carpets were removed at some point, so they will need to be replaced to finish off the cabin. The dash is mostly stock, as are the two-tone door panels, a center console and 2-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel help with the sporty feel and the round gauges in a wrap-around panel are a nice touch. Augmenting the factory gauges are a set of three white-face auxiliary units above the radio and an A-pillar mounted tachometer to monitor the revs. Options power windows, power locks, cruise control, and a tilt steering column, so this is a lot more car for your money than a garden-variety Camaro and there's room for five adults inside, which is always nice. The factory Delco stereo is gone, replaced by a newer Kenwood AM/FM/Bluetooth/iPod compatible stereo head unit that sounds great and was professionally fitted to the dash so it looks clean and tidy. And as a full-sized car, there's a rather large trunk out back that is in good condition and obviously has nothing to hide. Powering this Monte is Chevrolet's most popular and dependable small block, the 350 V8. Topped by a Quick Fuel 4-barrel carburetor and augmented with Blue Print heads, it's a strong runner with plenty of old-school muscle car torque. An open element air cleaner tops the motor, and bright chrome valve covers flank it, showing off just enough pop when the hood is up. The engine bay is well-maintained but not detailed for show, but that would be easy to remedy with a Saturday afternoon's worth of work and you can't argue with the way this coupe goes about its business. Linked to a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission that spins a 10-bolt rear end, it's a great highway cruiser and pulls down acceptable fuel economy, at least for a big V8. The suspension is tuned to be entertaining but you can still feel this car's luxury coupe origins underneath, so it's great for road trips and the custom dual exhaust system has a deep rumbling sound that's never annoying. American Racing wheels give the car a pro-street vibe and carry off-set 235/60/15 front and 275/60/15 rear Cooper Cobra radials. Very affordable and very fun, this is one of those cars that will always be worth about what you've got in it, making it easy to enjoy a cool piece of '80s muscle without breaking the bank.
