Description for Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 1957
Up for sale is my 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Fuel Injection 283CI/250HP. The level of restoration and attention to detail on this 57' impresses everyone from concours judges to enthusiast alike. Beyond the immaculate restoration that was done to this car, the correctness of the restore is even more impressive. From the factory correct dual-tone Onyx Black/India Ivory (Paint Code 807D) to the original 283CI/250HP (F402FJ) with the much desired original Ramjet fuel injection set up. These FI optioned Chevy's were rather expensive in 1957 ($4015.15), and thus have become very rare. If you have been on the search for a 57' 'fuelie', look no further. This car has been exceptionally preserved in all the right places and meticulously cared for in my ownership.Beginning on the exterior, the dual-tone paint has been expertly applied. This 57' was born how you see it...India Ivory over Onyx Black. As good as this paint looks in pictures, it really takes seeing the car in person to appreciate the time and effort that went into applying the paint. The car was shot 3X with epoxy primer and then PPG base/clear. The undercarriage looks like it has never seen the road with an even coat of red oxide primer. It takes more than the right coats of paint and clear to look like this, because great paint needs a great canvas. That is why the sheet metal has been meticulously reviewed and correctly repaired (lead seamed) over every inch. And when this much was invested in the body, only the best bright work will do. 99% of the stainless and chrome you will find of this car is either original or correct OEM. The only aftermarket piece on the exterior of this car is the chrome bezel on the front of the hood. If you know tri-fives, you will know there is a big difference in fitment between OEM and aftermarket trim. And when the judges are analyzing the outside of your car at the next big show, their eyes will wonder to notice the correctly dated (AS-2-2MT 7 ) original GM glass fitted on the car. Everything on this car has been scrutinized to make sure that the gaps are tight and the trim lines up to appear like unbroken lines.
Looking through the crystal clear glass, the high degree of restoration carries into the interior of this car. The black/red (interior trim code 676) interior with the correct upholstery pattern contracts fantastically against the black/white exterior. The AM radio is correct and ready to jam out to your favorite oldies, all window felts show new, and the mirror-like trim has been refurbished along with the classic gauges. If you weren't feeling nostalgic looking at the car parked on the street, you will feel like you are driving off the factory floor when you sit in the drivers seat of this 57'. Oh yeah, the clock works.
Where this car really shines is under the hood. The car has it's original FJ 283CI/250HP block (with correct deep groove fuel-injection pulleys) backed up by the original powerglide 2-speed trans. Both are in great company with many of it's original components. The distributor, fuel pump, generator, and other major components have been verified to fit this car's timeline and backup this cars highly original presentation. The heads are dated March of 57' #3731539. The generator is also dated in march. The FI part # is 1395 Part #7014520 and was an early unit in April of 57'. All this comes together to a official build date on the entire car in the second week of April 1957. The car also has the correct vacuum pump for the wipers mounted on the rad support which also houses the correctly dated Harrison radiator.
I have owned this car for the past 3 years and treated it with the utmost care. The car was always stored in a climate controlled environment and trailered to and from show in an air conditioned enclosed trailer. Over the course of my ownership the car has won many awards and competed with the best of the best. Awards won with this car have been Ultimate 5 at Pigeon Forge, TN Rod Run 2017, Best of Show at Chattanooga, TN VCCA scoring 997/1000, VCCA V8 car of the year 2017, Mighty Muscle Pick at Shades of the Past 2018, Top 15 and best paint at the Smokey Mountain Classic Chevrolet Round up 2019, and Best Paint as Nashville Autofest 2019. The car has taken home too many best of show trophies to count at local car shows in the middle TN area. Simply put, this car has dominated the TN / southeast car show circuit that is has competed in.
