Description for Chevrolet Other Pickups 1948
1948 Chevrolet 3600 3/4 Ton Pickup Truck. All original barn find heavy duty Advance Design Pickup Truck.Selling withNo Reserveto the highest bidder. Contact must be made within 24 hours of the auction ending or it will be assumed that you have no intention of honoring your bid and the truck will be offered to others. Zero Feedback bidders must make contact prior to bidding. It's not often we come across an Advance Design era 3/4 Ton pickup, they seem far less common than the 1/2 Ton's and also less common than the 1 Ton's. This example is remarkably straight and solid. There is absolutely zero rust through to be found anywhere on this truck which is incredible for a 71 year old farm truck. The floorboards are in very good condition. The doors, rockers and cab corners are as solid as they were in 1948. There is no rust to be found in the cowl/firewall where these trucks can often suffer with rust. The fenders are very straight and only have a few very minor farm related dents and scrapes. The running boards are in excellent rust free condition. The original wooden bed floor is intact. All hubcaps are present and in very nice condition. The only body damage is where the drivers side cab corner has been deliberately dented to aid in mounting the spare wheel and over time this has created a crack in the sheet metal. This appears to have been common practice on GM/Ford farm trucks of the era as I have seen this many times before. Also the front bumper filler panel is damaged with the drivers side portion of the panel partially missing. Overall this is an exceptionally solid and straight truck that still wears its original paint. I am truly blown away by its condition, it's the nicest I've ever seen. It's likely so well preserved as up until two weeks ago it has been stored inside a dry barn for the past 32 years covered in a layer of dust.
The interior is complete and clean but will require the usual work of re-upholstering the seat and other minor details.
Mechanically this truck is 100% complete. It hasn't ran or been driven since 1987. It rolls and steers freely and all tires hold air. I put a battery on it to see if it would spin over and the starter just spins quickly and doesn't engage. The gauges all moved though when I turned on the ignition and the wiring appears to have survived quite well. There is oil and coolant in the motor. Expect the worst and budget for a full rebuild although you may be pleasantly surprised and get it running again with a little TLC and new tune up parts. The transmission selects all gears, the clutch engages and disengages and the brakes are non operational.
This will make a great mechanical project as unlike 99% of un-restored trucks of this era you will have no rust to contend with.Selling withNo Reserveto the highest bidder.
