Description for Chevrolet Corvette 1958
This is an amazing restomod based on an original Corvette C1 whose chassis was modified by Paul Newman's Car Creations in CA. The car was then built by master craftsmen whose objective was to win a major Show Car title...which it did in 2005. Since that time, the car has been on display and has traveled less than 200 miles.Almost every component has been highly polished, chromed or painted. There are hundreds of hand built parts made especially for this car. The build cost was close to $400k.
The LS6 engine has been built to have about 550hp but be capable of being driven sedately on the street as well. Which it does beautifully. The transmision is a 6 speed T56 Tremec from a 2004 Camaro. The rear suspension is from a 1996 C4 Corvette with the bigger Dana 44 rear differential. It is fitted with a fiberglass spring for improved road handling. The front suspension is also from the 1996 C4 Corvette and has C5 Corvette calipers and discs fitted. A fiberglass front spring is also fitted.
The chassis was prepared by an artisan who spent hundreds of hours on it and finished it by lead-wiping all of the joins so it has a sleek look to it. It was then powder coated. The fiberglass body also received hundreds of hours in aligning every panel. No factory Corvette ever had panels this good! The rear fenders are widened by 1 1/2" to allow fitment of the 9 1/2" wheels.
The paint on the car (underneath and on top) is superb (there are a couple of minor scratches on the car after being on display for 12 years).
The car is located in Sydney, Australia but shipping it back to the USA is not a big deal and costs approximately $3,000.
Come on out and have a look at this beautiful car. You'll love Sydney and you'll love the Vette even more.
