Description for Chevrolet Other Pickups 1954
1954 Chevrolet Other Pickups
1954 Chevy Half Ton 3100 Series Pickup. Has thedSUPER RARE factory Hydra-matic 4 speedautomatic transmission. The Hydra-matic was first used by GM in the 1940 Oldsmobile and continued until the mid 60's in Cadillacs, buicks, some Pontiacs and even by other car makers such as Lincoln, nbsp;Hudson, packard, ambler and even Rolls Royce used this bullet proof transmission for some time. The military also used this transmission in heavy duty applications. Many a car race was won on drag strips in the 50's and 60's with the GM Hydra-matic transmission. Many GM old truck enthusiasts have never seen a Hydra-matic truck of this year due to the rarity. No one seems to know exactly how many 1954 Chevy trucks were equipped with this transmission, it is likely less than a few thousand on the high end were equipped in 1954 with this gearbox. Ford had introduced the Fordamatic automatic transmission in their light duty trucks in 1953, o to meet the competition and demand GM used a time tested transmission that had already been in service since 1940 in their car lineup to equip the 1954 GM trucks. The G.M.C. trucks were also equipped with the Hydra-matic, nbsp;including the heavier 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks.
This truck runs and drives as it should. I drive it several times a week. Overall in very good shape. Lots of beautiful mother nature's patina. Has small scattered body damage, nothing that will not repair easily. This truck is complete The reason for selling is that I'm thinning my herd. PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY AS I HAVE MADE EVERY EFFORT TO DESCRIBE CORRECTLY AND HONESTLY THE CONDITION OF THIS TRUCK!!!! If you have questions after reading the description, feel free to call, text or email me at 918-519-4807 and I will be glad to answer your questions.
CAB:New tinted windshield and new rubber gasket. For many years GM used a large foot controlled starter button on the floorboard in all the manual transmission trucks. However, with the Hydra-matic transmission there was "no" starter button on the floorboard as were was with all the manual transmissions this year. The starter button was moved to the left side of dash and located above the headlight switch with all Hydra-matic trucks. Fuel tank will need to be flushed and cleaned however. There is NO heater available for this truck. Seat is complete with good strong springs. No cardboard door panels or headliner. No rubber mat for the floorboard.
BODY:New Chevrolet style hub caps and B.F. Goodrich tires that are new and have 99% tread.
MECHANICS:Has what "appears" to be the original stock 235 engine. Has the original carburetor with rare automatic choke ( which was used only with trucks having the automatic transmission ). Manual shifts had the standard choke cable to the dash. New 12 volt conversion has been done with new 1 wire alternator.
Please remember this truck is 60+ years old, /u>thus you are purchasing an old truck. No warranty implied or expressed. What you see is what you get.
As with all PUBLIC AUCTIONS, the reserve is NOT made public. Giving the reserve price to a few who ask would be unfair to others who also have an interest in this truck. Please just bid what you feel its worth to you, nd wait to see if you are high bidder. There is no"BUY NOW" offering with this sale.

IN SUMMARY: Over the last 30 years I have been involved in several restorations of antique vehicles. Most restorers as myself eagerly look for mostly complete vehicles with overall good bodies to restore. This truck certainly fits that category with obviously a huge savings of time and money in your restoration of this truck. THIS TRUCK IS A TRUE SURVIVOR. IT IS UNMOLESTED UNTOUCHED HARD TO FIND RUNNING DRIVING TRUCK.
