Description for Chevrolet C-10 1966
Here at Streetside Classics we see a lot of C10's, but this 1966 Chevrolet C10 Custom pickup certainly stands out. With only 5,039 miles on the frame-off build, it's the kind of truck whose every detail is bright, crisp, and laser-sharp, giving it an immaculately tailored look where nothing is out of place. You can tell from thirty feet away that this truck is special. The brilliant red paint catches your eye because it's so much nicer... than the cars around it, and it's obvious from any angle that serious amounts of cash went into the build. Every panel is straight enough to reflect like a mirror and they probably spent more time aligning the sheetmetal than most guys spend on entire paint jobs. Nothing has been modified, shaved, or deleted, instead letting the quality do all the talking, and once you see this truck next to lesser specimens, you'll understand what a big impact that really makes. Two-stage urethane certainly helps, giving it a shine that's deep enough to swim in, and all the chrome is freshly restored, replaced, or polished. There is, of course, a fully restored oak bed with stainless rub strips, and the natural materials add a warmth that enhances the overall look and I like that they used a satin varnish so it doesn't fight with the paint for your attention. It just looks right. This is not some custom resto-mod, but rather a high-quality restoration with some functional upgrades, so the interior has been treated to a very stock-looking makeover. A new cloth seat cover is trimmed in vinyl and has a cool 1960s vibe to it, and tan carpets on the floor make it feel more luxurious than your average blue-collar hauler. Again, it's the quality that stands out, with the jewel-like steering wheel and column and crisply rendered instruments, and you'll note that the odometer shows just 5,039 miles since the restoration was completed. Every knob, every piece of trim, every detail is beautifully rendered. To make this handsome truck more functional, it has a discreetly-installed A/C system under the dash as well as an AM/FM radio that looks like it belongs there. And if you want some idea of the commitment to accuracy, check out how the tan door paint wraps around the edges of the doors, leaving a razor-sharp line between it and the red exterior. That was no easy masking job! The original, numbers-matching 283 cubic inch V8 was rebuilt and detailed for show before being slipped back under the hood, and it's worth taking the time to look around. All the correct little things are there, from the big air cleaner with reproduction decals to the original-style radiator, all so neatly refinished that it's about a million times nicer than new. A few liberties with the A/C and cooling system mean it's far more comfortable to drive today, but other stuff like the reproduction tar-top battery and beautifully detailed hood hinges mean that every decision was a choice, not just happenstance. It's every bit as nice underneath, too, where you'll find a fully rebuilt and painted suspension, a new dual exhaust system, and a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission feeding the original rear end with 3.08 gears inside. Front disc brakes are a welcome addition, as is power steering, so you can drive this truck every day if you want, although it might be just too nice to risk. The only other deviation from stock are the slightly oversized steel wheels, which wear fat 255/70/15 Uniroyal radials all around. As nice as this truck looks, it's even better than you think. Yes, the price is bigger than most of these trucks, but the cost of the restoration was surely twice that number. If quality matters, this is your truck. Call today!
