Description for Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 1957
It's no secret that we love 1957 Chevys here at Streetside Classics, but the way they sell also proves that you love them too! With timeless looks and the ability to become just about anything you can imagine, there are few better choices for your next car than this lovely 210 2-door post coupe that's been priced to move. Vivid red is the iconic finish you want in a Tri-5, but I can guarantee none... of them looked this flashy in 1957, especially with the custom red-and-white checkered flag that was integrated into the rear quarters in between the 210 trim of this one. Thanks to a solid restoration, it was given a driver-ready makeover that included smoothing the body, straightening the panels, and making sure that the red paint had a good shine and presented well. It's certainly not perfect and closer examination will reveal signs of use here and there, but that only proves that the car is working as intended. The bright finish suits the '57 just fine and on monochrome cars, the 2-door post body style works better than the hardtop to show off the dramatic styling cues, looking very dashing indeed. And you already know that chrome isn't cheap and the '57 is literally covered in the stuff, so there's a small fortune wrapped up in the details on this car and although it's not perfect the contrast definitely delivers and it shines up well- so it was worth every penny! The interior is as subtle as the exterior is flashy, although it's not without its custom touches either. With gray tweed on the bucket seats and rear bench, they didn't stray too far from the original recipe, although the fabric is probably a lot more comfortable on warm days than the original stuff, and the red accents on the seat-backs and door panels mirror the checkered flag on the exterior. Pleats are a safe bet for a vintage look, but the door panels have been upholstered using multiple patterns that recreates the '50s vibe. On the other hand, the bright red dash still houses the original round instrument pods, which allows the stock dash to remain, well, stock. Modern A/C has been very discreetly mounted underneath, joined by dual set of auxiliary gauges to help monitor the engine's vitals. Neatly fitted plush red carpets provide added insulation and noise reduction and even the retro-sound AM/FM/AUX radio doesn't call attention to itself inside the original factory slot. The trunk is tidy, too, with plenty of room and a protective mat. Small block Chevy power is a given in a '57 like this, and it's obvious that not only was it built to drive, but that someone intended for this one to last a good, long time. The usual stuff, like a Quadrajet carb and ceramic-coated long-tube headers helps it build power, and for easy starts there's an updated ignition system and alternator. Edelbrock chrome valve covers and a matching mini air cleaner add a little flash to the engine bay and there's a big radiator up front keeping the whole show nice and cool. The front disc brakes are powered by a newer booster and dual master cylinder, power steering makes driving a breeze, and with the 3-speed manual transmission this car is an absolute blast to drive as you cycle through the gears. An original-style rear-end handles all the power without issue, and the dual exhaust system is quiet yet rumbly enough for an all-day haul with no side-effects. Brand new American Racing Torque Thrust "Old-Style" wheels wear modern 215/65/15 Cooper Cobra white-letter performance radials at all four corners to complete the look. You can probably count on this car landing a new home pretty quickly, given how well finished it is, and there's definitely no shortage of '57 Chevy fans. Call today!
