Description for Chevrolet Corvette 1974
1974 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray ? NUMBERS MATCHING ? ORIGINAL PAINT ? ORIGNIAL INTERIOR ? NEVER RESTORED - ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL.
I purchased this Corvette from a private car collector in Georgia in 2007. I drove it right off his personal showroom floor, out to the highway and right up here to Virginia. What an incredible ride that was ? not 1 single issue or hiccup. It runs even better today than when I bought it as I have made a couple of upgrades (see below). This is a completely original numbers matching 1974 Corvette Stingray. The interior is absolutely original and beautiful - everything (including the clock) works perfectly. There is very little wear on the carpet and seats and none on the dash, doors or T-Tops. To my knowledge, this vehicle has never even been smoked in ? which is pretty great for a car that was built and driven in the 70?s. Also, the original paint is still brilliant and shiny. We keep her clean and waxed so the color stays sharp. There are a few chip marks here and there from the road, but no cracks or blemishes ? and absolutely no rust. This is a really great numbers matching all original 1974 Corvette Stingray. I have never seen another one like it.
A little bit about the 1974 Corvette Stingray ?
The 1974 Stingray equipped with the L48 195hp small-block was capable of 0-60 in 6.8seconds; comparable to the 6.5second time of the 1968 small-block rated at 300hp; proof the 1972-74 Corvette engines had ample power regardless of reduced horsepower and net (bhp) ratings. The L-82 engine remained at 250hp and the 454cuin (7.4L) LS4 dropped slightly to 270hp.
Hi-Performance Carsmagazine in a L48, L82, and LS4 comparison test, September 1973, said: "Our choice for the all-around best performer must go to the base 350 L48 engine...The L48 delivers all the acceleration you'll ever need on the road in a steady, forceful manner...in addition it runs cool, idles smoothly, and can cruise all day at 100mph (160km/h). The L48 took 6.8seconds to reach 60mph (97km/h), the L82, 6.7seconds and the LS4 454, 6.4seconds. On the Bridgehampton road course and over the ride and handling course at Suffolk County Raceway, the base L48 coupe was again our choice...the L-82 had the same balance as the L48 but if we weren't at the right rpm through a corner, or in the wrong gear, the (L82's) lack of torque made itself felt once again...the L48 was the best balanced of the three.
Resonators were added to the dualexhaust systemon 1974 models which further helped quiet the interior which had already been quieted by 40% in 1973. The radiator and shroud were revised for better low-speed cooling. The inside rear-view mirror width was increased from 8 inches to 10 inches. For the first time, lap and shoulder seat belts were integrated, but only in coupes. The FE7 Gymkhana "off-road" suspension included stiffer springs and a stiffer front stabilizer bar with no ordering restrictions. 1974 was the end of an era for the Corvette with the last true dual exhaust systems, the last without a catalytic converter and the last use of the 454cuin big block engine.

Upgrades I have made over the years ?
2012 - Installed a custom stereo sound system was installed under the rear deck so the original stereo could remain in the dash. This custom sound system includes an amplifier and speakers (none of which can be seen). The new sound system works from a small handheld remote and includes CD, XM Radio and Bluetooth.
2012 ? Installed a ?New? 700R4 Transmission. The 700R4 is considered one of the best transmissions ever made. This transmission offers my Corvette an over-drive gear eliminating the ?Engine Whining? from the original engine which can be heard starting at only 55mph. I can now cruise comfortably at 75MPH with absolutely ?No Engine Whining?. It makes you want to just cruise forever.
2013 ? I heard about Corvette designed and original oversized racing radiators so I did my research and had one installed. What an absolutely awesome upgrade. My Corvette can idle in a parking lot in 100 degree weather and stay nice and cool. Well worth the money.
2019 ? Replaced all fuel lines and fuel related parts. Cleaned, refurbished and replaced worn our parts on the carburetor to bring it to a fully restored quality.
