Description for Chevrolet Nova 1970
CAR WILL SELL. NO RESERVE on this restored 1970 Nova SS. This car was sold new at Bellwood Chevrolet in Bell (Los Angeles) CA on March 31. 1970. Rare factory Tuxedo Black car. built in March. the last month black was offered for a '70 Nova. As seen on the original bill of sale. it was equipped with factory bucket seats. center console. tinted glass. power steering. AM/FM radio. SS equipment. turbo hydramatic. and CA emission system. Car now also has factory style gauge package with tachometer in dash. gauges in console and sport steering wheel. Included with the original bill of sale. is the protect o plate. a reproduction window sticker and a lot of paperwork from previous owners. The original owner owned the car up to 1999. Included are receipts for maintenance. emission tests and registrations that show this. French Lake Auto then acquired the car. brought it back to MN and sold it in 2000 (included is that for sale ad). Pictures of the car in 2000 before restoration are below. Very solid original car to work with. The new owner restored the car over the next couple years. Engine completely rebuilt in '01. along with transmission. Complete new interior-seat covers. carpet. headliner. dash pad. door panels and other smaller trim parts. All new oem style wiring harnesses. New alternator and distributor-correct ones included. New starter. Carb rebuilt. New glass. new bumpers. emblems and trim. Repainted car with base coat clear coat finish. Floor panels are original but center part of trunk floor is new. All rubber seals are new. Receipts total over $15k for those parts and labor. In 2008 engine developed knock. #3 cylinder had to be sleeved to reuse original block. Numbers on block recorded by machine shop before doing work (also new pistons. rods. cam. timing gear set. oil pump. bearings. heads rebuilt). Rearend also had noise. so new axle shafts. 3. 73 rear gears and posi carrier were installed in the original 12 bolt to replace the 3. 07 non posi. Invoice was over $8k. Engine now has 3300 miles on it. runs excellent and drives great. Since buying the car. I have installed original style wheels and hubcaps. Tires only have a couple miles on them. They are same style/size as originally equipped except radials. Updated radiator to 3 core oem style and flex fan (orig. fan included) and stays cool driving during summer. New rear air shocks. oem style plug wires. hoses. clamps and labels/stickers. All lights and gauges work. wipers and pump work. horn works. fan motor works. Interior looks like new. Engine compartment and trunk look great. Paint and body are very nice. Car has been driven so it isn't perfect. a few chips and there is one small ding and scratch toward bottom of door. It doesn't show on any photos and you don't see it walking around car. Has always been stored in climate control buildings since restoration. There are over 100 photos below showing condition of car.
