Description for Chevrolet El Camino 1970
1970 Chevrolet El Camino
Back in the 1950's a woman from an Australian Farm requested a car that she could go to church on Sunday, and haul pigs on Monday. The idea was hatched for a new kind of transportation, that being the multi-use vehicle. GM's version was the El Camino aptly named after the Spanish "The Way".
For consignment a VSCO version of a car (if you do not understand look it up, it's a mindset for teens) in beautiful condition. A fantastic paint job complete with graphics, a shiny set of Cragar SS's, and a beautiful interior, this car pretending to be a truck is pristine. For the El Camino fan definitely worth a serious look.
Exterior
With straight steel panels and well minded gaps, this car is dipped in Black Cherry 2 stage, then to top off the cherry some airbrushed graphics race down the sides. These are in pink and red with an almost clear background of faded red. They zig zag back to the rear of the bed and look just 1970's stylin. The bed is nearly perfect, gate functions flawlessly, and the back of the car come truck looks gnarly with dual Pypes exhaust tips peeking out from the sides. A scooped hood with the aforementioned graphics on the sides runs back from a modified front grille which has been blackened out. Chrome is in fab condition and is totally dimple and rust free all around. Cragar SS wheels in polished chrome are on all 4 corners. Just a beautiful presentation exterior seen here.
Interior
A swing of the door reveals showroom door panels in black vinyl, with original aged knobs and chromed cranks. Slipping inside we see a tuck and roll split bench in black vinyl, and in very good condition. A center armrest is shared by passenger and driver. Dash is excellent and clean, with original gauges, and a Rallye style steering wheel is fronting the dash. (5) aftermarket gauges monitor the essentials and hang below the dash. A Mr. Gasket shifter sits proudly in the center of the hump. Also, a beautiful presentation inside too!
Drivetrain
Flipping the hood we are met with a Black Cherry engine bay, and chromed heaven. The 350 cubes of V8 sit inside this environment. It is unknown whether this mill is original to the car, however it was manufactured within the life realm of this car. A single 4-barrel Holley intake and carb, and a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission in back of the mill, throws power back to a 12-bolt 3.55 posi rear. Zoom Zoom Zoom said the car to the truck!
Undercarriage
Showroom in a nutshell, all is well underneath. A stainless-steel exhaust works its way back from headers to the rear quarter side exits. Tubular independent coil spring and 4-link suspension abound underneath in a very nice environment which has some repairs for rust remediation.
Drive-Ability
Drives like it was owned by a 90 year old grandma who drive only to church on Sundays it's that good. Lights right up and throw the clutch out and its go time. Accelerates nicely, runs smoothly, handles great, and when I look in the rear-view mirror, I'm expecting to see bales of hay. This is a great car....truck.
This is a nice restored El Camino, with a bottom line of a really great resto, an awesome repaint, and fancy graphics right out of 1970, but let me remind you that it's the year of this vehicle. It runs fab and is really comfortable on the interior front. Gotta go go go!...and you can too in 1970's style.
