Description for Chevrolet Impala 1962
Known as "Show Pro" This was a serious ISCA competitive show car. It competed around the country at the highest levels winning as much as $10,000 prizes. That money was always reinvested in the car making sure it stayed at the top of it's game. A reported $400,00 was invested! EXTERIOR: Wow, where do you start on this beautiful work of art? Almost every square inch of this ISCA show stopping car is custom and it's all crafted in metal!... We are not talking mild modifications, we are talking about some pretty radical, time intensive customization. The rain gutters were made smooth and the roof was chopped 2 inches. This required custom made tinted glass, wing windows were eliminated. It has suicide doors, they open from the front by remote. The handles, locks, emblems, moldings were removed and filled smooth. Fuel door was filled smooth. The front fenders were molded to the inner fenders. The bumpers were made smooth and molded to the car. Upfront is radically altered with custom lights, one of a kind aluminum grill. The hood was lengthened and a raised cowl was added. The rear is just as radical. Custom made taillights with bowties, has a dove tail molded in and the trunk lid was shortened and opens with electric ram. Check out the one of a kind Bowtie wheels. Custom made by the legendary Boyd Coddington. It is painted a custom mixed PPG red with pearl and gold graphics. INTERIOR: You won't find another interior like this, every square inch is also custom made. Check out the one of a kind Bowtie steering wheel by Boyd Coddington machined to match the wheels. The dash was removed and a new one was made from scratch. It is on a polished tilt column. Has Dolpinn gauges. The custom console extends all the way to the back making 4 bucket seats. It has Lokar floor shifter, stereo and MSD switches. Front and rear buckets with a full console. From floor to headliner everything is upholstered to match in a tweed with leather trim. Under the dash was boxed and upholstered. Very comfortable and stylish. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Truly a display of high level craftsmanship. The power plant is a healthy dual quad 409. The block was sent to Atlanta, GA to be sanded and polished smooth by hand. Custom billet timing cover and oil pan were built just for this one motor. There is a set of aluminum Edelbrock heads, intake and chromed dual quads. On top is a one of a kind shroud with matched graphics. Has polished aluminum water pump and radiator with electric fan to keep it cool. Stainless hoses. As you look around you won't see any ugly wiring, even the spark plug wires have custom polished stainless steel looms that hide each wire. The firewall and inner fenders are completely hand crafted. Notice there are no seams, everything is filled smooth and painted. The front suspension is beautifully displayed. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The same craftsmanship from the interior is shown in the truck. It has a power ram to open and close from inside of the car. The battery is mounted behind the professionally boxed and upholstered wheel well cover. The 15 gallon polished fuel cell will keep you going down the road from show to show. UNDERSIDE: Look at the pictures, it tells it way better then I could. This car has a custom floor pan that is bead rolled and painted just as nice as the top side. There are no seams, everything is smooth. Completely custom fabricated round tube X frame was engineered and mandrel bent. Then you see one of rear end that is attached to a four link set up. Everything under here is painted, chromed or polished billet. Even the transmission case was chromed. There is so much engineering that went into making the custom parts. The rear end is a one of a kind fabricated for this car. It is all aluminum and stainless. Custom made stainless driveshaft and u-joints.The more I look the more I am amazed. Has billet transmission cross member, and exhaust clamps for starters. The list goes on and on. Has rack & pinion steering, adjustable gas shocks, high torque starter, external trans cooler, disc brakes at all 4 wheels, turbo 400 trans and more. The exhaust is polished like a mirror. The amount of time and money spent creating this car must be staggering amounts. It was strictly trailered during it's life as a competitive show car. It recently has been serviced and made road ready. It is ready for cruising around, local shows and stealing the limelight at cruise nights.
