Description for Chevrolet Corvette 1962
The 1962 Chevrolet Corvette closed the book on the first generation with some unique features and a hot 327 small block. So you know this is perfect all-American sports car to be respected everywhere and drive anywhere.Red Corvettes are so iconic that you might be asked to lead every 4th of July parade in this one. The paint was redone later in life, and it has matured into the kind of finish that people may think this is a well-respected survivor (we won't tell the secret if you won't.) When the sunlight rolls over the red, you get a deeper appreciation for the coves in the sides and flowing fenders. Plus, it also showcases all the things we love about these later C1s, like the quad headlights and sleeker hood. And yes, this was the final year for the trunk until the C5. Plus, the ducktail rear previewed the era of the C2s and the four round taillights. The Corvette had evolved into a much more serious machine by '62, and so while you still get those great wraparound chrome bumpers that made these cars famous, the factory replaced its toothy grin up front with a blacked-out grille that wants to consume lesser roadsters.
The white convertible top nicely coordinates with the tires to make this one look good with the roof on. But the real reason to have a first-gen Corvette like this is to cruise around with the wind in your hair. That's why you've got a bold interior to really show off wherever you show up. After all, there's just something about a red convertible with a red interior that makes you want to always go for a drive - almost like a matador urging you to be bullish about the road ahead. The dual cowl dash is the focal point inside, so it's always great to see it looking this nice. There have also been some good investments along the way. They all are quite subtle, like the newer carpeting, newer upholstery, and the smaller diameter sports steering wheel. And the more modern AM/FM digital tuner w/cassette fits in the classic radio spot to give you upgraded tunes while you enjoy top-down vintage motoring.
We know you're going to enjoy showing off the engine bay with a very correct-looking period-correct V8. Corvette people know you need a 327ci motor in this car. So not only do you get the right displacement, but also the details look great: from the Corvette script valve covers to the ram's head manifolds. When your done showing off this V8, you'll love the roar that comes from firing this one up. That's because it inhales deeply through a four-barrel carburetor and exhales with sweet sound from the newer stainless dual exhaust. You're always in complete control of this V8 and its soundtrack thanks to the four-speed manual transmission.
Complete with owner's manual, this one is a red-blooded American icon right down to the trunk mat. It's a final-year C1 Corvette with all the right features for open road fun. Call now!
