It is a superb driver that not only looks great. but also drives very well. This Corvette is ready to be used and enjoyed. I personally have put over 250 miles on this car over the past month. which included a long four hour road trip. Throughout that time the car was completely reliable. operated impeccably with no issues. and was an absolute pleasure to drive. We purchased this Corvette in Auburn. IN. It was a very nice day and the car ran so well that I decided to just drive it all the way back to Cincinnati. which was about 4 hours. The Yellow exterior over Brown interior is one of the most attractive and striking color combinations on a C3 Corvette. The original mileage is verified by not only by the condition of the car. but also the clear Ohio title. pictured below. showing the mileage as "Actual. " Please peruse all of the photos. video. list of numbers. and other information below to get a true sense of clean. correct. and original this Corvette really is. As a side note. this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the Corvette. just give us a call. numbers Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the correct stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts. but all of the dates are also chronologically correct. This means that all of the parts were made and assembled in the correct order. For example. all of the dates for the individual engine components and the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could be assembled. All of the parts I checked follow this rule and are dated correctly. item number description* VIN 1Z37L6S438212 The first digit. "1. quot; indicated the Chevrolet division of GM. Distributor Date Code 6E13 The "6" is the last digit of the calendar year. the "E" denotes May. and "13" is the thirteenth day of the month meaning the distributor was made on May 13. 1976. Colvin's Corvette by the Numbers and Mike Antonick's Corvette Black Book. condition Exterior The Yellow exterior is in great driver condition. As one can see in the photos. the paint has a dazzling gloss. deep shine. and smooth finish. Both doors open and shut nicely. The Corvette aluminum wheels are in great condition with a brilliant finish. The tires are less than a year old and have almost full tread left; they are sized 225/70/15. There are no major imperfections that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. There are some very small blemishes. crazing. and imperfections around the car that were too faint to be picked up by the camera. but nothing that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. As one can see in the many photos of the underside this Corvette it has absolutely NO RUST ISSUES. There is no rust around the "key hole" area of the frame in front of the rear tires (there are specific photos of this area below). and no evidence of corrosion around the windshield or "birdcage. quot; the most common areas for rust on C3 Corvettes. Window Date Codes Please note that ALL the glass on this Corvette is date coded and original as each piece predates the car's body build date of June 10. 1976 (K10). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage. Interior The brown interior of the Corvette is also in terrific condition. The seats look great with no split seams. holes. or excessive wear. They are not worn through in the typical area where the driver gets in and out. The carpet is in "like-new" condition with no holes or stains. This includes the rear carpet. which is often neglected. The dash looks fantastic with no splits. sun fading. or cracks. The door panels are in great condition with no splits or cracks in the arm pads. which is a common problem on this era Corvette. The door pulls are solid and intact. Even the original wood grain inserts are in very nice shape on this car. The car has never been smoked in. there is no ash in the ashtray and no aroma what so ever. The original AM/FM radio is still in this Corvette and works well; most importantly the dash has never been cut or modified for an aftermarket unit. Please note that this is the factory optional stereo radio. not just the standard base radio. Corvette interiors are not known to wear well and the excellent condition of this interior is a testament to the meticulous care this car has received throughout it's life. Even very detailed items that are almost always broken or shabby are not on this car; details such as the finger pulls for the rear storage compartment and the fit of the center gauge cluster with the shifter console are very nice on this example. The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos. Mechanical This Corvette seems to be in very good mechanical condition. as stated above it just completed a 4 hour road trip with no issues. It is a nice driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car cruising on the highway at about 70mph. Please note that there are no strange noises. vibrations. and the car performs quite well overall. The car runs cool does not overheat. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. This Corvette has plenty of power and is quite fast. It starts right away every time. idles well. and runs well. The transmission smoothly well throughout the power band. The brakes do not pull to one side or the other and were recently serviced with new pads and calipers on all four corners. This Corvette still retains its factory catalytic converter which is another testament to the originality of this fine example. Also. the engine compartment is beautifully clean and detailed as one can see in the photos; even the original ignition shielding is still in place. The horn works as do all the interior and exterior lights. all gauges (with the obvious exception of the clock). wipers. power windows. and blower for the heater and a/c on all speeds expect high. The a/c does work on this car and blows cold. but you have to turn the switch to vent to turn the compressor off. One can observe the compressor clicking on and off in the video below. The vacuum system for the headlights works well with no binding. Also. the headlights go up correctly with either the headlight switch or vacuum override switch. Their complete operation from both switches can be observed in the video below. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car. especially with the T-tops out on a beautiful day. We do not normally buy Corvettes of this era with mileage as high as this example. However. this particular car seems so well sorted mechanically and in such nice condition the mileage was not a concern for us. That is why we drove the car so much. which was a great demonstration of the car's capabilities. This Corvette runs and drives as well as it looks. Overall Condition Overall. this 1976 Corvette is in great driver condition. Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing. The originality. the great condition. and the great extent to which the numbers match make this car especially important and hard to duplicate. While this is not an NCRS or Bloomington Gold show car. it is a verifiably reliable and solid driver quality Corvette that is ready to be enjoyed. This Corvette always gets a ton of attention driving down the road. It is apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous owners. The prices of C3 Corvettes have increased drastically over the past several years. They are secure and wise investments for a collector. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.
