Description for Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 1955
SoCal Classic Car Storagein Laguna Hills, California is proud to present one of the finest examples of a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible that we've seen in a long time. We're not a dealer who flips cars. We're a state of the art storage facility who offers consignment services to our storage customers. So, on behalf of one of our clients, we're privileged to have the opportunity to represent this vehicle. The most appropriate label for this tri-five convertible is value. Value.... Value..... Value!! Anyone who's ever restored a 5, 6 or 7 Bel Air knows that the word budget does not exist. Yes, the parts are readily available, but wow are they expensive. With that said, consider the great value in this Bel Air convertible dressed in two-tone Coral and Shadow Gray.
What you see here started as a father-daughter project. It began with not one, but three Bel Air's to restore one gorgeous, reliable and safe Chevy. Dad wasn't about to put his daughter in any car unless it was done right. A man who had built and restored numerous classic cars in his time, made certain this car would be safe and last a lifetime. So with two donor cars, he and his daughter were able to revive this little Bel Air to it's original state. Fast forward and this is the end result...... nothing less than gorgeous!
Now for the good stuff.......
Body/Paint/Interior:
Every nut, bolt and component was either restored or replaced. Everything from new floor panels to a complete interior kit made it's way into this build. All GM parts were sourced and no short cuts were taken. All the body panels were prepped appropriately and the body received a professional two stage paint finish. The interior kit presents itself the same way it did sixty-five years ago. By that, I mean everything was addressed including the steering wheel, reproduction tilt steering column, instrument panel, knobs, window cranks, ash trays, under dash components, wire harness (autowire) and convertible top/boot cover. The convertible top works flawlessly as it too received a new hydraulic pump, piston and hoses.
Trim:
Next is the immense amount the exterior stainless and chrome trim. Every piece was either replaced, polished or re-chromed. Not one piece was considered "good enough" to be put back on. Nope, all of it was addressed. Even the dreaded side window frames were restored.
Drivetrain:
As for the drivetrain, well it too received the full treatment. It started with a new out of the box crate 350 cu.in. motor (290hp) and 350 automatic transmission from Jegs.com. As you could imagine, all of the complimenting components such as a carburetor, intake manifold, water pump, ps pump, alternator, starter, distributor, power steering box, radiator, brake cylinder/booster, exhaust headers were replaced as well. Of course, no build is complete without powder coating the core support, inner fender wells, and suspension components. The rear differential received a light overhaul with new bearings. The frame was appropriately treated (undercoated) and the drive shaft was given attention as well.
Bottom line is this..... we've all heard of those classic cars someone bought and issuesmysteriouslyariseas soon as the keys change hands. Well that's not the case here. This Bel Air recently underwent a pre-purchase inspection and passed. So as you can see from the photos and description, again, the first word that comes to mind is "value". It's nearly impossible to build a classic such as this one for anywhere near the asking price. Combine that with the rare and desirable Coral and Shadow Gray color combination, the fact that it's a convertible, a quality build from an experienced car builder, stack of receipts and that it drives and handles perfectly, you would be hard pressed to find anything similar for this price. It is "turn-key" as they say and worthy of any car show or cruise night around.
