Up for sale is this amazing 1968 Chevelle that I call the #Chevhelle. It is a true original SS396 car that has been in my family since July 1975. It was parked on my parents property south of Maricopa in about 1980 and sat aging until last October when I decide to get her back on the road. I left the desert patina but completely went through the mechanicals to make this thing the best driving Chevelle I’ve yet driven. It has a 1967 396 currently powering it with a new Monster 700r4 following it. I have the original #s 396 block, heads, intake and forged crank plus the original th400 on hand but didn’t install them as I wanted to have some fun pushing the car a bit without worry of hurting the original #s drivetrain. The 396 is topped with a Holley Sniper EFI system that includes their tank and distributor. The car has all new suspension bushings, new 1” drop coils in all 4 corners, complete new brake system with new drilled/vented rotors up front, new drums out back and all new lines and hoses. It sounds amazing with long tube headers, a complete 3” Summit Racing exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers. It is an original AC car and it blows super cold with a new rotary style compressor, crossflow condenser and new hoses. I installed a new top, new interior including carpet, headliner, dash pad, seat covers and door panels. It is currently wearing 15” steel wheels with Cooper Cobra big and littles. The cooling is great through a new aluminum radiator with shroud and Spal fans. It has the stock 12 bolt rear that is the original 3.08 non posi. I have also replaced the weather seals front to back. This car is amazing but I have had my fun so it is time for it to find a new home. It drives down the road wonderfully turning only 1950 rpms at 80mph. I have a 3” binder full of receipts and history on the car. I would keep it the way it is and enjoy it but it would be an easy car to paint and make a high dollar show car with a simple paint job as the car is super straight.
