Description for Chevrolet Corvette 1978
This 1978 Chevrolet Corvette 25th Anniversary Edition is a well-preserved coupe, right down to its numbers-matching L82 heart. And as you look into this loaded T-top coupe, you might even be surprised by its extra growl. The fastback roofline was new for '78. It not only improved aerodynamics but increased cargo capacity, and in the process, these special editions launched a new era for the third-generation coupes. All of that looks exceptionally nice today thanks to careful ownership and ultra low mileage (the odometer is believed to reflect the actual mileage, which would only be about averaging 420 miles annually.) The two-tone silver on the 25th Anniversary Corvette is still one of the most handsome combinations to come out of the 1970s. It goes far beyond just coordinating colors. It adds delicate pinstriping in all the right places, including extra ones to highlight the C3's curvy styling along the fenders and the power bulge in the hood. It looks like a custom paintjob, which is why it has remained one of the most sophisticated themes ever applied by General Motors. And yes, the majority even shows the right signs of being the factory original application! This even has nice details, like the correct 25th anniversary badging and optional polished aluminum wheels. So it's a highly-correct survivor-style presentation.
The Oyster leather interior has a nice clean look against the silver exterior. This bright interior trim is repeated on the door panels, center console, carpets, and even the steering wheel is wrapped in the same white leather. You have nice features, like the factory AM/FM stereo with working 8-track, a tilt steering wheel, and the T-tops love to put the wind in your hair. Plus, the factory air conditioning was upgraded to modern R134a refrigerant (it likely will need a recharge to blow cold again). And the C3 Corvette's full gauge package is an instant reminder that this is a driver's machine.
The engine is the optional L82 350 cubic-inch V8. This higher compression motor was a must-have for the performance fans in 1978 because it offered 17% more horsepower than the standard Corvette V8. This numbers-matching motor has a good factory look with the extra bright blue on the block and clean ribbed valve covers. Other items like the Holley four-barrel carburetor, newer distributor, and newer gaskets are all part of a strong-running package. So when you twist the key, this one fires up readily. But you also may notice some added bass. This has long tube headers and a newer dual exhaust that help add power and rumble without taking away from much of the stock appearance. Add in power steering, the fully independent suspension, a three-speed automatic transmission, and four-wheel disc brakes, and you'll understand that this Corvette is for drivers.
A sleek survivor-style 25th anniversary Corvette is already alluring, and this one has also been done with extra power. So you know that makes for a great all-around classic you can't let slip away. Call today!!!
