Description for Chevrolet Chevelle 1970
Here’s a high-end 1970 Chevelle Restomod that is not fully revealed at first glance. It has a long list of highly engineered features artfully hidden behind the facade of one of the great muscle cars of all time. With the magnum opus styling of a 1970 Chevelle, the builders wisely chose to keep the stock body lines and trim intact. Getting up close, however, uncovers a generous helping of 21st century tech. A 5.7 liter LS1 V8 brings with it modern fuel injected power and smoothness. It brings smooth looks too. The cylinder heads themselves are polished to a mirror finish. The rest of the engine room follows suit; you’ll see powder coated, painted, and plated parts everywhere. The 4L60 automatic transmission includes overdrive to make highway driving easy on the car and the passengers. A hefty Ford 9-inch rear with the perfect gearset — 3.55 — is Traction-Lok equipped. The interior is a custom masterpiece. Two different shades of tan leather give a feeling of rich luxury to the cabin. The most distinctive feature is a full-length woodgrain center console that stretches from the dash all the way back between the rear seats, giving the car a 2+2 configuration. It houses the floor shifter, old-school style, but it also contains a JVC touch screen and two 12 volt power outlets. The instrument panel is another clever feature. At first glance it looks like a factory 1970 Chevelle dash. But the instruments are Dakota Digital gauges and the stock-appearing climate control is actually a Vintage Air unit. The exterior of the car is a tasteful blend of classic and state of the art elements as well. It has long been customary to change the wheels on a muscle car, and these are good ones. Billet Specialties Street Smart Fast Lane polished forged aluminum wheels are the perfect choice for the retro/modern theme of this car. The staggered-size wheels mount Nitto Extreme ZR NT 555 tires. P255/45ZR17 in front and even meatier 295/45ZR18 in the back for great looks, great traction, and just the right stance. The wheels let you see the WIlwood disc brakes all around. They work like anchors for 21st century stopping power. The body, bumpers, and grille are just as they appeared from the factory, one of Chevrolet’s best-ever designs. The paint is a metallic coffee, bronze, copper shade that compliments the body lines well. There are a couple surprises here too. Your imagination isn’t playing tricks on you, those really are subtle “ghost” SS stripes on the hood and decklid. And while it looks like the side marker lights have been filled, they magically appear when the lights are on. This marvelous 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Restomod masterfully brings the best of the classic and modern worlds together in a beautiful package that’s a delightto drive and fun to show.
