Description for Chevrolet Camaro 1981
To start with, let me first say that I understand that there is a lot of information in my ad. I also understand that this may be boring to the person who is just looking and not buying. However, for the person who is looking to buy and spend their hard-earned money, I feel that there is never too much information.
As for myself, I am not a dealer, just a (72) year old kid that loves muscle cars. For my work, I recently retired from managing a Correctional Facility here in Maine and had worked for the Maine Department of Corrections for (40) years. I am also a respected member of my community. I mention this only because of the value of this car and so that prospective buyers will have some idea as to who they are dealing with. Also, please check out my eBay feedback which is 100% with (1,345) transactions.
Some Brief History on the 1981 Camaro:
After two years of watching the Ford Mustang enjoy tremendous success, on September 26, 1966, General Motors finally launched its entry into the pony car segment, the 1967 Chevrolet Camaro. Although available with a mediocre six cylinder for volume sales, the Camaro could be equipped with several V8s and a myriad of performance options. Chevrolet stated that the "Camaro" was named after the French word for "comrade." The Camaro was available from the start in hardtop coupe and convertible body styles.
Love it or loathe it, the Camaro is one of the most popular muscle cars ever produced. For years, these cars got more exposure than the gang from Orange County Choppers.
As the final year for the second-generation Camaro, Chevrolet decided to make only a few changes to the car, including the addition of GM's Computer Command Control system, which was used on all Camaro engines. For 1981, power brakes were standard on all Camaros. Regardless of their shortcomings, the 1981 Camaro was a superb handling car and was the last year for the second-generation Camaro.
Now for your consideration is this original body panel 1981 Chevrolet Camaro. Originally a V6 with a 3-speed transmission, the original drivetrain is long gone replaced with a 307ci and a 4-speed. Comes with the original build sheet.
I have more photos and two videos. Potential buyers just need to message me, and I will send them the links.

Exterior: The Camaro still retains what appears to be all the factory original body panels.Interior: The blue interior is in good overall condition considering that it is factory original and 41 years old. The seats are in good condition as you will see in the photos with one rip in the driver’s seat. (See photos) The door panels are also in good condition with minimal wear and fading. The door and window hardware are in good working condition. The headliner still has cardboard but not the actual headliner material. The carpet appears to be original and should be replaced. The dash has no warping but does have a crack. The center console looks OK. All factory belts are present and in driver quality condition. Door locks and windows are in good working order. All gauges appear to be working including the fuel gauge. There is no radio.
Engine: The 307ci engine starts, runs, and sounds fine. I believe it came from a truck and has been rebuilt.
Transmission: The 4-speed transmission has no funny noises and shifts up and down through the gears as it should with no issues. The reverse is over and down.I believe it came from a truck along with the 307..
Rear Axle: The rear axle appears to be the factory original 10-bolt. There are no funny noises or clunking observed.
Electrical: All exterior lights are in good working order to include the headlights (passenger’s side headlight not working.) taillights, running lights, brake lights and blinkers.
Trunk: The trunk is in good condition but has no spare jack assembly or trunk mat.
Undercarriage: The undercarriage is very good, showing no major signs of rust or rot. Look at the extensive undercarriage photos which will display the undercarriage condition better than any description that I can conger up.
