Description for Chevrolet 3100 1948
This is a very nice, restorable 1948 Chevrolet Panel 1/2 ton Truck. I have a clean title in my name. I have owned this for 33 years but never did anything to it. I drove it 30 years ago, but has been parked since. Only drove it maybe 500 miles, but had other projects ahead of this one. It ran great when I parked it, over 30 years ago., I tried to start it, did a compression check, but has low readings on the 1st and 6th cylinder, but does turn over freely. I do have the key and this truck was converted to 12 volt. Someone had installed this 228 GMC, full pressure motor into it before I purchased the truck. It has a 4 speed trans in it, but at one time had a 3 on the tree, as you might notice in the photos. It still has the column shift in it. It has the original floor start too. On the body, someone put a lot of bondo on it and sanded down the complete vehicle, all over, again before I purchased it. This truck is actually very straight down the sides, the problem areas are where you see the bondo in it. There is no rust on the cowl panels near the bottom, a very common spot, but someone has done something at the top of the panels, by the hood, see in photos I believe it can be fixed pretty easily, and I have the new little firewall edge filler panels that will include. The floor has some rust-out, see photos and has been patched by pop riveted panels on the right side -see photos. I do not see rust underneath the side panels, but does look like some bondo in that area. There is some rust where the rear fenders attach, near the back area -see photos. The right passenger front door has rust on the lower inside, however I have another 48 door in good shape, included. The right front fender is pretty bad in the front, but I have a pretty good used one, that I will include too. The rear barn doors are in good shape, no rust. No rust on the rear sill area, below rear doors, which are very common to rust, on these panel trucks. The top (roof) is straight, not walked on, however there are 6 small 1/4" holes have been drilled in it, but nice otherwise. The inside bed wood is in great condition along with the inner fenders, etc. The hood is fairly straight, needs a little work. The grille needs a little work, but you can see in the photos, pretty nice. There is no broken glass. The rear barn doors also have good glass. The seats have been replaced with bucket seats from something else. The running boards, see photos - had step plates mounted and rusted out under them. Everything looks good underneath, has the original sway bar (unique to panels) and all 4 lever action shocks. Good lines and all door open and close well. No battery included. Gas tank has been cleaned and a few gallons of fresh gas installed. Sorry to be so wordy, but I try to describe this so you know exactly what you are getting.
