This car is in incredibly good condition for a 55 year old car. It is a true survivor. The paint appears to be original and is shiny with some where and tear and touch-ups here and there. The interior is original and is crisp and clean. With this being a base model car it has vinyl floor mats which I think are very cool and fit the whole vibe of the car.
I recently pulled the car out of storage, put some fresh gas and a battery in it and it fired right up and runs great. The car runs & drives great. The tires are flat-spotted from sitting. While they have good tread I suspect they are old and should probably be replaced. The car does have imperfections here and there. I did notice that there is some surface rust in the door jam where the hinges are. It looks to me like the pain coverage at the factory wasn't enough in that area which resulted in the surface rust. The photos really tell the story. See the link above for 200+ full size photos.
This Chevy II Nova is equipped with a very rare and unusual transmission that GM called the "Torque-Drive." The Torque-Drive is essentially a manually-shifted automatic transmission (GM described it as "the first no-clutch one-shift transmission"). Basically, GM de-contented the Powerglide by removing all of the parts that allow it to shift automatically so they could offer consumers a cheaper option. Photos of some of the GM promotional materials are included in the gallery with the 200+ photos at the link above.
This car appears to be optioned just like one of the pages in the 1986 Chevy II Nova brochure (with the happy customers in a setting featuring fall foliage). Check it out - it's pretty cool.
Make sure to view the photos of the underside of the car. Floor pans, rockers, subframe, etc. - the bottom of the car is very solid.
