Double click on the arrow below to go to full screen. 1986 Monte Carlo SS The owner of this car waited until his midlife until he had enough money and time to complete his dream project. That was to make a Chevy Monte Carlo into an extremely fast RetroRod. Interestingly enough when he put in the Chevy 454 big block approximately 500 hp (at the flywheel) engine he also saved the original engine. This 454 engine is hooked up to the original transmission which is a 200R4 that has been reworked to accept much higher horse power of the new upgraded motor. Also the rear end has been upgraded to a Ford 9” posi 411. The owner has stated that besides the new front end the car has a completely new exhaust system from front to back. Since the motor upgrade the owner has put less then 1. 00 miles on the car. The interior has been redone very close to the original look. Wheels on the car are Weld Drag Lite wheels and he does have the original Monte wheels. This car is ready to drive! The car is in R. I. and sold with a vehicle registration and not a title as it is over ten years old.
