Description for Chevrolet Other Pickups 1955

Here for Sale is very nice start to what will be a nice fast truck. The previous owner used to street race a little up in Oakland. He put a sbc 350 in this truck. an aluminum flywheel. a GM rear end. 4 speed manual transmission. He says this truck used to beat them all. including the cops ( he would pull over eventually. just was proving a point to them he says ) He moved down to Los Angeles and got into motorcycles so the truck sat there. There were no issues with the truk when he stopped driving it. He would turn the truck on from time to time to keep everything working until his nieghbor had a baby. Then out of courtesy he stopped letting the engine run because the truck has glass packs and the tail pipes come out right in front of the rear tires. So he didnt want to wake the baby so he eventually stopped turning on the truck altogether. He promised that the truck would start right up with a battery and some gas. So I put him to the test. I got a battery. some fresh gas in a gas can. ran a line to from the fuel pump to the fresh gas. a couple shots of quick start and it started right up!!! And it sounds awesome!!! He says the truck never overheated. has a nice fan shroud to concentrate the fresh air to the radiator and even accelerating over the Grapevine as he came down to Los Angeles the truck never ran hot. All the electrical. lights. brakes seem to work just fine. He took out the benchseat and put in some bucket seats. See the photos of how he mounted them. Nothing wrong and they are nice and secure just not my taste. Obviously would need covers. reupholstery. The body is in fairly good condition. A few spots that need some work. The passenger side headlight area being the worst. but still not that bad. Inside the floor has a few rust thruough/soft spots but the majority is actually solid. He had some nice vintage orange shag carpet on the floor and used some black adhesive to lay it down so the floor looks rougher than it is. But nothing that will require a whole new entire floorpan. The previous owner also hand made a little tool box/storage compartment in the front half of the drivers side cab step. I took it apart but I think moisture must have gotten trapped because the front seam/corner is rusted. The rest of the step and the rear portion (closer to the gas tank ) is fine. The passenger side step is solid. The lower drivers side box hinge needs fixing / replacing /repairing on the door. frame or to the hinge itself. not sure what the main problem is there. The dash is mostly in tact. The typical whole was cut for a stereo but the rest is good. There are two pics of the dash. one with ash tray & another cover plate is missing but I have them and they are included. There is another pic with them installed. Those are the ones that are included. The heater box is still in good condittion. The windows rolll up and down fine. The front and rear windshields have no cracks nor do the door windows. Both vent windows are cracked. The front windshield has slight seperation at the bottom mostly by the passenger side. A few extra parts came with the truck. some are for the truck. the others I am not sure so I am throwing them in. One is a non rear bumper tail light ( hard to find ) and also and under the bed spare tire carrier. The others I have no idea. they might be worth more than the truck for all I know. The bed is in really good condition. The rear fenders are solid. no rust. The bed steps are rock solid. The tailgate is in great shape. The bumper is great although a working man's bumper. not the chrome version. The wood bed isnt bad. only blown out in a couple of spots but all the metal strips are there. The truck has current California registration valid until March of 2016. Title is clear and I have the pink slip in my hand. The current license plate is still a black plate! Great if the buyer ends up being from California so they can keep it. I dont know how they handle that for out of staters. I bled the brakes and they have great brake pressure now. Stock brakes. suspension ad steering. Obvious maintanance/replacesment of fluids/lines/parts as desired/needed. This is a 1955 truck after all. Please ask any questions. come down to view in person. have a friend. estimator. broker. whatever. whoever come down take a look because this is a used car so no refunds/exchanges or returns. I have described the truck with as much detail as can. maybe too much. I have a video of the engine turning over with one turn of the key. no gas pedal pumping and it starts right up.
