In our current inventory. we have many numbers-matching. investment grade cars that are perfectly suited for trailering to shows and parking in museums. However. as much as we lust over historic pieces that have been restored to better-than-factory condition. we're also red-blooded gearheads who love selling cars that are actually driven and enjoyed. With its awesome color combination. ground pounding big block and calculated performance modifications. this fully sorted F1 will turn driving your muscle car from a hobby into an obsession! If you're looking for some classic Detroit metal that mixes macho swagger with some of the best lines to ever prowl American streets. this is your car!BODYWORK/TRIMRestricted to sunny summer miles since a complete. ground-up restoration. this awesome coupe displays smooth bodywork and first-rate finishing that's nothing short of excellent. The build began with a solid body that was thoroughly massaged and carefully aligned to very high standards. Once that well-done fuselage was completely smooth and ready for paint. a silky coat of Cortez Silver urethane was blanketed with traditional Rally Stripes. sealed under a slick clearcoat and capped with clean vinyl. And the result is one exceptional muscle car that combines the best fundamentals of a golden era classic with the acute attention to detail that's more characteristic of modern Detroit superstars. The best classic cars are those which utilize modern technology and simple customization to enhance the original integrity of an already attractive design. And this tasteful F1. with its subtle and carefully planned enhancements. is literally the definition of that logic. At the front of the car. a stainless-trimmed grille hangs a bright "Z/28" emblem and familiar Rally Sport headlights above a broad bumper. crystal-clear parking lamps and an optional D80 chin spoiler. Above that grille. a ZL2 cowl induction hood rides between fresh glass. straight stainless trim and requisite "Camaro by CHEVROLET" header regalia. At the sides of that hood. blocky "rally sport" scripts and factory "Z/28" emblems reflect correct mirrors. traditional door handles. dent-free rocker trim and factory-optioned quarter louvers. And at the back of those fenders. a tight trunk spoiler caps Rally Sport tail lamps. a fourth "Z/28" emblem and a second chrome bumper. ENGINEThe Chevrolet division has always represented performance to a virtual army of car guys. But. unlike its refined and precise Corvette brethren. the Camaro manifests that performance as raw attitude and brute power. Lift the hood of this sweet first gen and you'll find a big block 454 that's been overbored to a whopping 468 cubic inches. At the top of that monster mill. air flows through a familiar chrome cleaner to a 750cfm Quick Fuel Technology 4-barrel that's aligned with a Mr. Horsepower pressure gauge. proven Earl's fittings and an Edelbrock mechanical pump. A resulting air/fuel mixture makes its way from a Dart aluminum intake to aluminum Procomp Electronics heads. which hide 3/8-inch pushrods. Dart guide plates and Scorpion aluminum rocker arms under matte Dart valve covers. Once those heads flood the cylinders. an Accel HEI Super Coil distributor sequences fire through 8mm Taylor plug wires and Design Engineering titanium Protect-A-Boots. That fire pushes 10. 5 to 1 forged popup pistons. which spin in unison with a . 610-lift hydraulic roller cam and forged steel crank. Resultant spent gases are jettisoned through stainless long-tube headers. which perfectly contrast the block's bright Chevy Orange skin. Naturally. cooling is provided by a beefy aluminum radiator. Charge comes courtesy of a 100-amp Powermaster alternator. which spins alongside a polished AC compressor and coated Edelbrock water pump. And overall. the Satin Black engine bay is exceptionally clean. featuring details such as poly engine mounts. aluminum fender braces. zinc-plated hardware. an Optima gel cell battery and a 7-inch. dual-diaphragm brake booster. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSIONThe standard mode of power transfer on showroom-new '69 Camaros was GM's tough Muncie 4-speed. And. while the benefit of 45 years of increasing technology now affords plenty of painless conversions. it's hard to beat an original. This Camaro's thoroughly upgraded M22 spins a McLeod clutch and flywheel opposite a Lakewood Safety Bellhousing. That gearbox twists an Inland Empire driveshaft that's fitted with Spicer 1350 U-joints and quality. forged yokes. And that driveline twists a Moser 12-bolt rear end that's fitted with Yukon axles. moderate. 3. 55 gears and an Eaton posi-traction differential. A complete suspension rebuild saw the addition of 2-inch drop spindles. adjustable Flaming River coil-overs. tubular control arms. an assortment of polyurethane bushings and a thick sway bar. That suspension turns thanks to Flaming River rack-and-pinion steering. which is juiced by a late-model GM pump and reservoir. At the corners of the car. power front disc and rear drum brakes provide serious handling prowess and first rate stopping ability. Exhaust flows from the aforementioned headers to large-diameter pipes that breathe through an H-shaped crossover and dual-chamber Flowmaster mufflers. Power hits the pavement via polished aluminum Cragars. which spin 215/55R17 Kumho Ecstas in front of 235/50R17 Kumho Ecstas. And the car's clean floors feature a full array of finishing components that includes: poly transmission mounts. a Moser truss-style differential cover. stainless fluid lines. a Mr. Gasket fuel pump. a Mallory fuel filter and a stainless fuel tank. INTERIOROpen this Chevy's tight doors and you'll find a classic Black Houndstooth interior that's wrapped in fresh Dynamat insulation. Factory bucket seats wear 3-point Morris Classic Concepts belts. In front of those seats. a traditional dash frames factory-spec telemetry. controls for the car's Vintage Air climate system and a remote-controlled. MP3-compatible RetroSound radio in bright wood veneer. Beneath that dash. fade-free carpet frames a familiar Hurst shifter. "Z/28" branded floor mats and a purple-lit console that's equipped with factory 4-pack gauges. At the sides of that carpet. Standard door panels hang chrome handles inside straight stainless trim. In front of the driver. a 14-inch padded steering wheel laps a tilting column. And behind the passengers. 200-watt Kenwood speakers hang over a clean trunk that's equipped with a factory mat and full-size spare tire. If you're in the market for a killer pavement bruiser that's a blast to drive and even more fun to show off. your search is officially over. This well restored Camaro mixes classic Chevrolet looks with a ton of power and some of the best performance modifications on the market.
