Description for Chevrolet Impala 1968
For sale here is an original 1968 SS427 (Impala Custom Coupe body style) that originally came with the 427/385hp engine. The car no longer has this engine nor many of the trim components that made the SS427 unique like the bulged hood. faux gills and badging. But it is an original SS427 and comes with a portion of the original build sheet. about 25% of the original document; essentially the southeast portion of it. This part shows about a half dozen different options including the important Z24 (SS427) and Z03 (SS) option packages. See photos. I’ve included a Xerox copy of the build sheet in the photos that more clearly shows the options. Since it’s also a Z03 car it came with the bucket seats and console shifter too. All the drive train components that are unique to the SS427 are still there. The car has a late 1970s small block in it now with a turbo-350 trany. I rebuilt the carb. installed a new fuel pump and replaced the transmission filter and pan gasket in 2013 to get the car running again. The carb is not original to the intake manifold and does not currently have a choke. Once warmed up to where a rich mixture isn’t needed it idles well. The car is drivable but in need of complete interior and exterior restoration. And it does not have a hood. All seating except for driver's seat is currently removed. but does come with the car. The passenger rear quarter panel is quite rusty but may be savable. The driver's rear quarter panel is very rusty and must be replaced. The trunk floor is rusted through in various places and is probably a candidate for replacement. The left front fender was replaced at some point. The right front fender is original and has the holes for mounting the gills. What's in the photo's is what comes with the car. along with the seats. The car is located in central Iowa. about 10 miles north of Des Moines. Please contact me if you have questions. I can store the car for up to a month if the buyer needs time to pick it up.
