Description for Chevrolet Other 1928

This 1928 Chevrolet National Series AB Convertible Sport Cabriolet came available midyear. and “was offered with a $50 discount off its base price. a tactic GM's low-priced division used to keep sales momentum rolling after Ford launched its all-new 1928 Model A at prices lower than Chevrolet. ” The plan worked. and though Ford would soon turn the tables in 1929. Chevrolet was the sales leader in 1928. 1930-1934 (with exception of 1935). and finally leading again 1936 through 1955. The 1928 Chevrolet National Series AB. coupe with rumble seat. was basically a renamed 1927 Chevrolet Series AA Capitol Cabriolet. But it looked fresher with imitation leather top. and thanks to a wheelbase stretch of four inches. to 107 inches. and a handsome facelift. The new look was one of the first projects from GM's Art & Color studio. and followed its creation of the 1927 LaSalle. Compared to the 1927 Chevy. the 1928 National displayed a longer and straighter hood. flowing fender lines. lower profile. and smoothly integrated body panels. That longer hood was no styling frivolity; it was necessary to accommodate the six-cylinder engine that was soon to come. This particular ’28 Chevrolet National AB Convertible Sport Cabriolet has benefitted from an older frame up restoration and presents itself extremely well today. This car had been with the same owner for many years in Medford Oregon during the first stages of restoration. The original body wood is in good condition. and the sub frame between the chassis and body has been replaced by box steel. The paint on the car is in excellent over all condition with only a few minor spots where there are very few minor nicks in the paint. A two year final mechanical restoration has been completed here in Eugene. Oregon under my care. Including all new wheel bearings . seals. new brakes. rebuilt engine and transmission. etc. All fenders and sheet metal are original steel. There is a full size spare on the back between the optional split bumpers. Inside. the interior has been completely refurbished and looks great. Finished in black imitation leather the bench seat looks great shows little wear. The door panels. front seat. rumble seat. and areas behind the seat are finished in matching material with little or no wear showing. The dash has been painted to match the rest of the car with the lovely wood steering wheel as the accent. Gauges work with no problems. including the optional antique face wind clock. Under the hood. the inline 171. 4cu. in. 4 cylinder starts with ease and is connected to the three speed manual transmission and enclosed driveline. The engine compartment is very clean and nicely detailed but not over restored. The optional wood spoke wheels have all been stained and sealed to match the car and look great. They are installed with new bias ply tires. The underside is extremely solid and has been nicely detailed. The car is being sold on a clean vintage title.
