Description for Chevrolet Impala 1964
1964 Impala 2 Door hardtop in great condition. Numbers matching 327 V-8. Automatic (power glide) with factory power steering. 83. 00 original miles. This is an older. well done restoration that's had some recent updates. including a full rebuild on the original engine. installation of a Vintage Air A/C system. and new low restriction exhaust. Interior is in excellent condition and incorporates a stylized Impala logo. New A/C blows cold. Mechanicals are solid and without issues. Fly in. drive home. It has a few well placed chrome and aluminum accent parts under the hood. a performance balancer. and aluminum water pump. but the driveline is otherwise stock. The body is very clean with zero rust concerns. I have a lift available and can send additional images of the undercarriage. suspension and chassis. which are all in great shape. I'm familiar with mid-60's x-frames: if you have a question - ask - I'll likely know what you're talking about. The downside. or why I'm not asking $25K: 1) The paint job applied a few years ago was a quality respray in House of Colors pearl white. but the clear coat is beginning to bake off a bit in places. This happens when you live in the desert and is the trade-off for rust free sheet metal. The brightness of the white undercoat keeps the oxidation of the clear from showing. so I've included an image of the trunk lid. raised and emphasized with shading. to show the flaking. A careful scuff and reapplication of clear would return the finish to excellent condition. 2) The side body molding were apparently applied with late model 3M emblem tape. The 3M product is excellent for fit and finish and superior for retention. but its not correct for 1964 (and also makes the trim a pain to remove). 3) Shopping carts will travel uphill and against the wind to ding '64 Impalas. and a rogue cart took out the lower left quarter trim earlier this year (no damage at all to the body). A brand new left lower quarter trim part from Eckler's is included. 4) The 15" Rallys are brand new. aftermarket wheels and show well with the body lines. but they were not factory equipment on GM cars until 1967 and are totally incorrect for 1964. I have a full set (four corners - plus matching spare) of correct 14" factory steel rims available if preferred. or I can take a few dollars off if you have your own wheels and tires. 5) The previous owner installed speakers on the door panels (removed) and back deck (still in place). 6) The chassis was apparently next on the list for detailing and has a disappointing amount of grime below the front suspension. 7) New parts still need to be installed - a brand new trunk lock. right rear trunk trim extension molding. and trunk windsplit (all from LateGreatChevy) are include. This is a rust free. rock solid runner that will hold its value but can be enjoyed right now as a classic daily driver. It hasn't been bagged or dragged and is an excellent candidate for continued restoration. On the prior listings I received a lot of calls and a few "wishful" offers. I'm sorry that double-white-over-red is not for everyone. but they can't all be triple-black. If you're serious about acquiring a '64 Impala I would encourage you to price a rust-free. bondo-free. numbers matching project with good paint (if you can find one). and then consider the cost of rebuilding the engine. replacing the interior. and adding modern AC. I can be reached at 520-250-7027 with any questions or to request additional images. Car has been posted in other venues and this listing is subject to prior local sale. Vehicle can be inspected in Tucson. Arizona on short notice. and I can help load / unload scheduled transportation. Clear Arizona title. currently registered and insured in Arizona. $500 deposit required within 24 hours unless other arrangements are made. The BUY IT NOW price includes a credit against delivery charges of up to $2000. meaning that the buyer makes arrangements for delivery with their preferred or favorite auto transport company and that charge (up to $2000) will be paid from the auction proceeds. If you can ship it for less. I'm happy to let you pocket the difference. or if you're close to Tucson and want to pick it up yourself. I'll simply refund you $2000. I'm trying to keep this fair and equitable for out-of-state buyers. and I'm open to considering any arrangement that works for both of us.
