Description for Chevrolet Impala 1961

Up for auction is a1961 Chevrolet Impala convertible. This is a great example of a car which has been well maintained over time. It shows extremely well and drives effortlessly at current highway speeds! Arguably the first true American muscle car. the 1961 Chevrolet remains one of the most highly sought after collector cars. 1961 marked the first year of the legendary 409. a bored out version of the powerful 348. 1961 also marked the first year of the Super Sport. a true blue chip collector car. With less then 453 DOCUMENTED Super Sports produced. the 348 tri-power motor was found in many SS models. This is a rare opportunity to acquire an extremely well optioned 1961 Impala Convertible. PAINTThe car maintains its original 936 Ermine paint color. In addition. has a 917 Seamist turquoise insert (which actually looks like a North Carolina blue). I believe it may have been repainted in its original ermine white lacquer. some years ago. It has a few minor imperfections which are reflective of a car that has been driven and enjoyed over the years. It shows VERY well. however is not a fresh $10k base coat/clear coat. Overall I would rate the paint an 8. CHROME/STAINLESSAll chrome and stainless are in great shape. No pitting or dents that I can see. I would rate it a 9. INTERIORThe upholstery is the original 842 blue vinyl. I cannot tell if it is original or reproduction. either way. it is near flawless. I would rate it a 9. MECHANICSWhat sets this car apart from similar Impalas and convertibles is its 348 big block motor. three-two (3x2) barrel carburetors. backed by a four speed T4 transmission. ACCESSORIESThis car is an EXTREMELY well optioned vehicle. Aside from the engine and transmission. its factory options include. two tone paint scheme. BF Goodrich Silvertown 4 Ply tires. SS spinner caps. fender skirts. rocker moldings. driver/passenger mirrors. front grill guard. four rear bumper guards. seat belts. SUN TACHOMETER. spaghetti 4 speed shifter. nbsp;rear mounted antennae. full size spare. original jack with tools. POWER top. padded dash. courtesy lights. glove box lights. two speed wiper motor. seat belts. POWER steering. POWER brakes. Optikleen wiper bottle. trunk mats. floor mats and ORIGINAL KEYS. All lights. nbsp;turn signals and gauges work as they should. The only thing that I know does not work is the radio. Sometimes gets static but does not receive stations. Also. the Sun Tach is lazy (only works intermittently). SUMMARYThis is a great car that shows and drives very well. I purchased it from Arizona. I believe it to be a car that was stored in doors its entire life. I have looked under it and see no signs of previous rust repair. It appears to have all its original floor pans. rockers. braces. fenders. quarters and trunk. It is pretty honest underneath. Newer gas tank and exhaust. NO thick undercoating. All doors shut effortlessly. Windows line up great. They also show well and function properly. It looks like a car that has been well cared for its entire life. NOT a swamp car or rust bucket that was Frankensteined together. I believe it to be all correct. however all bidders are strongly encouraged to inspect the car for themselves. This car is being sold "as is. where is. " There are no warranties expressed or implied. It is the buyers responsibility to ask all questions and/or inspect the car for themselves prior to bidding.
