Description for Chevrolet C-10 1960
Vehicle History This rare truck is being sold for the original owner’s estate The 6061. 2 original miles are on a working odometer that has a smooth transition from 0- *** as you drive. The miles are being represented as original based on documentation. family interviews and personal inspection. There is provenance to support the 6061 Miles. The original owner (a single man all his life) ordered the car in Niagara Falls. NY where he worked for 6-7 years as a heavy equipment operator. He took delivery from Jim Funston Chevrolet in Detroit. MI where he had a home. He drove the truck to NY titled. plated and left it there until 1966 when he stopped working. We have all the NY commercial plates from 60-65. During the time in NY the truck made its way back to MI 3-4 times in the summer according to the owner’s surviving sister. At the time his primary driving car was a 1958 Chevy. He also had a 1948 Buick that remained in Michigan and today has 27K miles and a 1932 Ford 5 Window coupe. He came back to Michigan and titled the truck for the first time in 1966 He traded in the ‘58 and bought a ‘67 Chevy to use as his daily driver. The truck sat mostly unused from 1966 till the late 80’s There is a photo of a snow storm in 1974 showing his garage with the edge of the truck visible in the same place it was when I first saw it August 2014 In July 1989 the photo in the listing has the truck with its original tires and rims along with the correct white grille and hubcaps. The only reason for using the word “original” to describe the tires was in reference to a receipt in 1993 that states “save original tires”. The tires from 1993 were replaced in 2007. In 2007 the owner sent the original rims out to Stockton Wheel in Stockton CA to have them converted to 15X7’s at a cost of $669. 80 Three of the tires from 1997 are available and currently have 11/32 tread left ( I think 12/32 is new) In March 2001 he had the brake and clutch cylinders (6 units) all rebuilt/sleeved by White Post Restorations at a cost of $703. 00 The 2007 tires still have the “nubs on them” and are presently on the truck. In 2000 he removed the hubcaps. bumpers. grill and hood inserts to have them powder coated. These are what you see today on the truck. I have priced the removal. stripping and powder coating of the parts back to the white as original ($1200) I will gladly oversee that project for the new owner before delivery Please allow 14 days to complete stripping. powder coating and inset (black hubcap bow ties /grill Chevrolet paint) If you would rather do this on your own I can make an adjustment to reflect your costs. Vehicle condition The visitor to any of the last two listing for this truck had seen the “garage find” condition it was presented in. After much debate I decided to clean the truck . remove the seat covers and retake the some of the photos you see in this listing. The weather strip. floor mats. glass. upholstery. battery cables and hold down are all original. The paint is original except for the (power coating) and touch-ups seen on the left door are rear fender. There is also stone chip type touch-ups scattered about the truck. There is a set unused original keys. The original small door mirror and painted gas cap are pictured. The letters on the left door remain a mystery but appear to be associated with some NY Trade Union he belonged to. I hit the door with 3000 grit sand paper and buffed it only to reveal the letters were mostly gone and the original paint into the primer so I stopped. He must have tried to remove the letters before. The duct tape on the sill plates. bed and tailgate show his intention to keep the truck as new as he could. The wooden tonneau cover protected the bed and wooden floor as seen the photos. I have removed most of the tape residue from the door sills and sill plates to reveal nice painted sills and mostly scratch free sill plates. The oil and undercoating residue on the bottoms of the doors were removed as seen in the photos. There are two areas on the lower portion of each fender showing paint bubbling and I would expect to see small holes if media blasting was done. The undercoating on the underside of the truck is unlike anything I’ve seen in Michigan. Very heavy. Please expect there to be oil leaks and oil residue under the truck. He oild everything like it was a bulldozer or something. The oil can in the engine bay is not there for show. The oil pan appears to have had a new gasket recently.
