Description for Chevrolet Camaro 1969
1969 Camaro SS 350 (X55) with 4 speed manual. Positraction and 3:31 gears. This is a numbers matching car and I believe the entire drive train to be original to the car. I have the Protect-O-Plate indicating the car was originally sold in January 1969 in New York. It is also a radio delete car. though a radio was added at some time in the past but is no longer installed. The vehicle currently is nicely equipped with the front and rear spoiler. console with gages. tachometer. clock. standard interior. and (the somewhat rare) folding rear seat. https://www. facebook. com/media/set/?set=a. 10206362505528199. 1073741834. 1434342728&type=1&l=35b28447d1 A previous owner had the engine rebuilt in 2000 at which time the engine was bored and honed along with many new parts. Documentation is available. An Edlebrock intake manifold replaced the original and the carburetor was replaced with a Holley 650 cfm double pumper. Also. a solid-state distributor replaced the original point system. These were probably added later since they are not listed with the other parts and work performed during the engine rebuild. The head stamp numbers indicate the engine was built in December 1968 and is the 300 hp 350. The VIN indicates a January 69 build (Norwood. OH). This is a numbers matching car and I believe the entire drive train to be original to the car. A frame - on cosmetic restoration completed in 2002. included replacement of rear quarters. a left door skin. bottoms of both front fenders. and new paint in the original Lemans Blue. At that time. a (non-functional) cowl induction hood was added along with Z/28 style hood and trunk lid stripes. The body was stripped to bare metal before priming and paint. Documentation is available. Since I purchased the vehicle in 2009. I have replaced most of the interior and have copies of purchase orders as documentation. This includes head liner. door panels. rear side panels. dash pad. seat covers. (front seats were rebuilt with new padding and repairs to the springs). dome light. clock. kick panels. console. console gage cluster cover. carpet. package shelf along with many other minor items. I have refinished the trunk using the correct spatter paint. but did add a clear topcoat for durability. Under the hood. I have replaced the solid state distributor. rebuilt the carburetor. replaced the battery with a simulated period battery. though with side posts rather than the original top post style. and made some minor repairs such as fixing the horn. windshield washer. replaced some fuel lines and vacuum hoses. An aftermarket breather sits on top of the carb. Also of note. it appears to have the original master brake cylinder based on the stampings. somewhat of a rarity in a car of this age. The exterior has been treated to replacement review mirrors. re-chromed bumpers. new rear bumper guards. new door handles. new wheels and tires. new gas tank. new window and door seals. new chrome bezels for the side marker lights. and new SS badges front and back. The car came with Corvette Rally wheels (15x8) that were in such a poor state they could not be salvaged. I replaced them with a non-correct 17x8 American Racing Torque Thrust wheel with 225/50R17 tires. I did maintain the same overall diameter as the factory F70-14 wheels and tires so the speedometer reads correctly. The paint still has good gloss after 15 years. the stainless is all present and accounted for and is in good condition. I also believe all glass is original to the car. Major equipment on the car is in good working order including all exterior lights. turn signals. emergency flashers. brake lights. headlights (high and low beam). side marker lights. low and high speed wipers. windshield washer. heater/defroster. horn. door locks and latches. The car shows well. The Flowmaster exhaust. coupled with the somewhat aggressive cam provides that lumpy muscle car idle and delightful rumble of a bygone era.
